Art & Life with Franco Galvan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Franco Galvan.

Franco, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Yes, I was born in Sharpstown an extremely diverse part of Houston and maybe, one of the most diverse places on earth. My mom who was a poet in the 60s and 70s took me to the cinema all the time as a kid. I saw movies like Repo Man with Harry Dean Staton when I was like 5. I fell in love with independent cinema and movies in general. She also exposed me to contemporary art, and classical art one of her best friends was an amazing installation artist. So early on my world was affected and my mind was blown away by what you could express in a multitude of mediums. This led me to go to film school and pursue a career as a feature filmmaker and actor.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Well first off talking about art is very hard and it should be for artists. Because it’s something, you can’t verbally communicate well in general. I direct films, I act in films, I produce films, and write films. I also act as a liaison to a multitude of mediums across the board from contemporary art, music, animation, and advertising. I know great people in these industries and can connect people like a Ferris Bueller would. I went to a very network-based college and studied cross-marketing throughout my time there.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Just stay tough as nails. A lot of people are going to not believe in you so f*ck them. Have to have the strength to believe in YOU. And you only have one life express express express don’t hold back. Just keep working keep getting involved and have fun and smile because you’re doing something very special that this world needs.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Mosaicmultimedia.net is the company I co-founded with my creative and business partner Chelo Ruiz. There you can interact with us and view are works that span from advertising to feature filmmaking.
