Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Braggs.
Bri, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2014, I was fired from my job and decided to take a different path. I enrolled in training to become a Certified Holistic Health Coach as I had always been interested in health and wellness. Having recently been married, my primary focus at that time was on family planning and preconception health.
I quickly realized back then, there just wasn’t much information outside of the standard eating healthy and reducing stress.
I began to post what I was learning and researching on Instagram and began to attract clients that needed help balancing hormones and getting pregnant.
In the beginning, I made custom essential oil blends for my clients and one particular formula worked really well. After the first pregnancy announcement, I knew I was on to something, so in November of 2017, I finally launched my product Fertile Alchemy Aromatic Oil. Since the launch, we have received four pregnancy announcements and many many amazing reviews.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely, not. I think anyone that tells you the path to entrepreneurship is smooth is either lying or they have a TON of help and capital.
Launching a product took twice as long as I thought it would. I had plans to launch my product much earlier than I did but because I did everything myself – including formulation, packaging design, bottling, marketing, and shipping. Things took so much longer. I was very stubborn in the beginning and did not ask for help until things were already stressful. I believe that’s why women are so easily burned out. My advice for other women would be to ask your friends and family for help, ask your community online, you will likely know someone that can help you with what you need. The answer is always no until you ask. You also have to let people know what you’re doing so that they can help you fulfill your dreams. If no one knows what you’re doing, they can’t help you.
What should we know about Fertile Alchemy? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Fertile Alchemy is a holistic lifestyle brand designed to inspire a new narrative around fertility and women’s health.
As a women’s wellness consultant, I work with women one on one and help them transform their fertility and health through nourishment, movement, & ritual.
I work with women who want to prepare their body for pregnancy, balance their hormones, and/or learn how to create a lifestyle synced with their menstrual cycle.
As a brand, I am most proud of the new narrative around fertility that Fertile Alchemy creates. Women shouldn’t wait until they want to get pregnant to think about their fertility or until something is wrong. Fertility can and should be a way of being. Fertile Alchemy inspires women to have fertile thoughts, to nourish growth in their life, to create joy and passion, to celebrate their creativity and femininity. I am so proud of that.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
What I do know is when you want someone to be your mentor, you should not just send them an email asking them to be. They don’t know you, why should they help you? Who are you even?
Instead what has worked for me is investing in the products and services of those I want to mentor me, and businesses/brands I want to align myself with. Not only do I get a better feel of who they are, and their offerings; but they also see that I have invested in them, that I support their business and I am serious about their work.
This trick has helped me connect with some incredible women who after we continue to develop our relationship, I will eventually ask to mentor me.
