Conversations with the Inspiring Brittany Davila

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Davila.

Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
First off, I’d like to say my life wasn’t supposed to look the way it does now, but thanks be to God! Writing started in high school when I found out my ex wanted to be with another girl. My mom told me to express myself in a journal. My thoughts and feelings flooded the pages. Some of the words smeared due to the tears flowing at the same time, It was that moment when I realized the power of words and the healing that takes place when you lay your heart on the page. Unfortunately, my relationship with words came to a halt when I lost myself for about five years. I did gain another relationship though! I accepted Jesus Christ at 23 years old. When I entered this relationship, those five years started to unravel. All the hurt. All the dishonesty. All the anger. All the lust. Girl, everything. I laid my heart on God, and if I can be honest, I was bruised, tattered, and broken. This process of healing took time and effort. I had to let go of people, and stuff that didn’t edify my life. There was truth in another book that I had to begin to eat of. The word of God was literally a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. God begin to direct me to a place where all my dreams laid at rest. The world can weigh heavy on you so much so that you forget why you were even created. When I saw my dreams, I saw purpose. One of those dreams was blogging. When I laid my heart on God, it was all honesty. It’s always been honesty. I believe that’s the only way for true healing and restoration to take place. I promised myself if I started this blog, I would be completely honest with my audience. Brittany’s Boulevard wasn’t the first blog I started. I had a habit of starting and stopping. My first one was called “9 Rounds.” I discussed the battles we face day in and day out. My second blog was called, “El Roi, the God who sees you.” I spoke about the relationships that led me directly to God, and I found out it started in 5th grade! There was still more though, and I knew I wanted to take my blog to another level. God spoke, “Brittany’s Boulevard- A Lane of Truth.” I was so jacked up because the lane I live my life on will always be based on truth and I wanted to share that with my sisters. Little did I know I was actually helping people. I was receiving text messages, and messages saying how much people have enjoyed reading the blog and how much they had helped. I thank God for where He has me positioned me now. Who would have thought a small journal over a boy would ignite the dream that laid dormant for many years. Now, I always have said to my readers if you’re looking for correct grammar and commas, I’m not your writer. If you’re looking for truth and a reminder that you were created with purpose, click the link.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth will never be the path to any success. I have found that I didn’t consider the time it took to get behind a computer to come up with content. My first mistake was I didn’t learn my craft. I had content, but there are strategies in place, and I completely disregarded those. Learn from others and be confident in who you are. If I compared my blog to the blogger who is getting paid and has all these collaborations, there wouldn’t be anymore Brittany’s Boulevard. That’s some truth for you. I was also waiting for someone to support my dream, like no baby girl, it’s your dream. You believing in your dream is all you need. Remember why you started. It wasn’t for the likes or comments. It was simply to express yourself and help others with your truth. Get connected with other bloggers who are doing what you want to do, and ask for help! Learn your audience and write to them! Above all. Be you. Of course, there were other Christian bloggers killing the game out there, but there are people that YOU can reach, so baby girl gets to writing. Believe in yourself, you got this.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Brittany’s Boulevard- A Lane of Truth story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a mouthpiece for God, simply put. I’m known for my authenticity and transparency. I will say what others won’t, in love of course. I am a fighter and like I tell my readers, I fought for my life, and I will go to war for theirs. As a brand, I’m most proud of the changes I’ve seen in my sisters who support my blog. There isn’t a better feeling than when you lead people closer to God. What sets me apart is my passion for people. I drive to give 110% in everything I do in my life, including my blog. I lay my life out to others in faith to help someone who may need it.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
