Conversations with the Inspiring Krystal Smith and Christina Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Smith and Christina Anderson.

Krystal and Christina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We met in 2008 in Houston, Texas, as college roommates. Christina was this “slick city chic” who moved back to Texas from Washington D.C to start the semester at a new university. The first interaction between us was Krystal coming up two flights of stairs hailing a basket full of laundry saying “Lawd it’s hot! I feel like I’ve been pickin’ cotton and shuckin’ corn”. Christina burst into laughter and from that moment the connection of a lifelong friendship began.

Our friendship/business partnership has been able to stand the test of time because we genuinely want to see the other successful and happy. We also learned early on to embrace our personality differences and use it to build each other up versus trying to change one another.

Krystal is naturally organized and has a traditional/regal approach to life, while Christina likes to live life whimsically and enjoys bold statements and daring tasks. We use our natural talents and strengths to our advantage; Christina brings more of the creative and outside the box thinking; Krystal’s contributions are more calculated or logistical in nature. Together we have the best of both worlds.

Present day Krystal is single and enjoying the courting life while Christina is married with two children. Our unique lifestyles and the different approaches we take are the core of The LNE Show. Before each recording session we consciously make the decision to be authentic because we get irritated with hearing “half-truths”. If someone had of sat us down and been as real with us as we are with our listeners it would have saved us years heartache and disappointment.

Our mission is to help people love one another as well as encourage them to nurture their body, souls, and mind. We pray that our journey (with all its setbacks and hard lessons learned) is used to encourage other people as they endure their own life challenges through the word of Christ.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This journey has not been easy but it has matured us into who we are today. When we originally started this podcast, we had both been through a series of trials and tribulations. Christina and her family dealt with job loss and homelessness after relocating back to Texas when her husband changed careers. Krystal dealt with job loss and struggled financially to finish graduate school. The LNE show started off as an outlet, it was a way for us to vent and share some of the struggles we faced in hopes that it would encourage others in similar situations.

Advice to other women:

We often hear the cliché “life is a journey, not a destination,” but it stands true if you really embrace all that it means. It doesn’t matter how much you acquire or what goals you meet. There will always be challenges which will push you to adjust as you continue to grow. As long as you are living and breathing your journey is far from over; be open and ready to face whatever comes your way. Be intentional when something does not pan out the way you originally hoped. “Failure” is not a reason to stop and give up; look at it as a lesson and figure out how you can be better the next time you try. Put your faith in God, and let the Holy Spirit guide you through this life. With him, by your side, you will never lose.

We’d love to hear more about The LNE Show.
The LNE Show is a Christian based podcast that incorporates practical everyday knowledge to endure real-life situations. Our podcast is powered by experiences we have faced (or facing). Together we share some of our greatest pitfalls/setbacks and what we gained from them with the hope that our listeners will use the testimonies as a roadmap and/or encouragement for their own lives.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
