Today we’d like to introduce you to Reshma Suleman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Reshma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey as a Fashion Blogger started in September 2018 after moving to Sugar Land, Texas. Having worked in the aviation world in the past and living in NY, my husband and I quickly decided that NY wasn’t the place we wanted to raise our kids. I had to give up my job in order for this move and I can now say although it seemed very scary at the time, it was the best decision we made as a family.
I did however realize with all the free time on my hand that something was missing, I wanted to do something for myself, something that made me happy. It didn’t take me too long to decide that I wanted to blog my passion for Fashion, my personal sense of style. I wanted to share my style with the like-minded women out there who are afraid to embrace their style afraid of being judged. I’d like to advise those women to discover their style, play with their clothes and accessories and come out of that shell. Trust me, it’s so much fun!
I’ll be completing my first year very soon and I’m very happy and content with my journey thus far. I’m very thankful to my followers and the brands that have shown trust in me to represent them and style their products. There’s more to come!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’d like to say it has been a fun ride. Yes, there have been challenges and obstacles but every journey has that. Sometimes, you are your own worst critique and that can be a huge obstacle when you’re trying to bring your vision to life. There have been logistical challenges, like scheduling for shoots, weather conditions, etc.
I’d also like to add the biggest challenge is the support system.
In the blogging/Instagram community, you really need to build your followers and gain their trust which may take a while. In the initial stage, you look for support from your family/friends which may sometimes not happen as you’d hoped.
On that note, I’d really like to emphasize to everyone starting this journey is to believe in yourself, work towards your goals and don’t give up ever. Don’t expect anything from anyone than yourself, have no self-doubt and don’t give anyone the power to bring you down.
It will happen, it may take time but it will surely happen!
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m known mainly as a Fashion blogger. I do some beauty and lifestyle but I’m mostly appreciated for my fashion outfits. My style is casual and chic, I also love putting together evening looks.
I have a long way to go but I’m proud to be working with some amazing brands and being recognized as a name. People refer to me as heygorgeousreshma instead of just Reshma and I think of that as an achievement.
Everyone has their own style, what sets me apart is the ability to experiment with my outfits and style. I have definitely evolved with that and not afraid to explore. I don’t restrict myself to all fashion norms.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Fortunately, in this community women have a lot of scope and opportunity. Fashion is not restricted or confined to a certain age group in our community. I love that about the blogging community. There is a place for everyone!
