Conversations with the Inspiring Shanecha Quentero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanecha Quentero.

Shanecha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out as a cosmetology student, I attended Paul Mitchell the school of Houston. In the middle of my school year, I realized that everyone is always so focused on hair, fashion, and crazy makeup but no one every focused on skin. Many of the girls we’re great at doing their makeup but struggled with the concerns of the issues they faced with their skin. I was always asked by ppl what I use on my skin and realized that hair wasn’t where I needed to be. The advice and regimens I gave to most of the girls worked if they knew their skin type. So, I pursued my career in esthetics which is when I realized the world of skin and beauty went back further than I can count and I was ready to tackle this career path.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like most new focus driven goals, the road is never smooth. If the road is too smooth, then you’re not giving your all. It wasn’t tough being a single mother and going through school, it was tough being in an environment full of women with multiple personalities and different ages. Being that, I grew up with all boys. However, I stayed focused, I made close with one girl who is like my sister, I made my short term and long term goals, I maintain a 4.0 GPA and deans list. I often thought of giving up when I struggled with having a full load and no help but I thought about my daughter’s favorite saying: ”if you quit, you won’t know how it feels to win, mommy.” Never give up, I feel that if you have at least a hand full of people supporting you, then you’re going to make it, no matter the odds.

What should we know about Lude Beauty Bar & Lounge? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is a mobile spa that allows each client to enjoy spa services in their home for affordable prices, I take great pride in my work and the ability to communicate thoroughly with all my clients regardless of its a friend on Instagram asking for advice or a walk-in client who never had a facial. I specialize in skin reformation and brows. My services range from facials, lash/brow enhancements to health & weight wellness. During my second semester in school, I was blessed to be able to acquire my Health Nutrition Certification from Texas A&M. I am proud of my brand because it’s honest, my services are result-oriented and 100% upfront on the journey the client will embark on their way to new skin.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I don’t feel I have any barriers in relation to female leadership. The only person that can hinder my growth is self-doubt and quitting. Females are taking over and it great to see so much confidence. Coming from a line of when who were told they couldn’t follow their dreams because they needed to take care of the home, family, make your husband happy… I think my generation has definitely changed the game.
