Life and Work with Alexa Baskin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Baskin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My blog was something that was in the works long before it premiered. I started following lifestyle and fashion bloggers when I was 13 years old (I am now 20, LOL) and was hooked right away. This led to my first blog post in May of 2017. My goal is simply to share my personal style and the things that make me happy in hopes to inspire others around.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Blogging has become such a huge trend and is SO DANG competitive now so it can be discouraging at times so I always try to keep in mind why I started. It is so easy to compare yourself to others. You begin to want what everyone else has from designer bags to body types which can definitely take a toll so a young girl’s self-esteem. Throughout this experience, I have learned to pay attention to what I already have. I am thankful to have so many people in my life that love and support me and with this, I have realized that having a pair of red bottoms will never define who I am nor my fashion sense.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
Overall, I share content that focuses on fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. I love to express myself through what I wear from comfy casual to upscale dressy. I am currently a student at Texas A&M University so a lot of the outfits or products that I share are perfect for things like college football games, athletic wear for running errands or going to class. But I also make sure to add some looks that are for other ages as well too. I have always felt that I have more than just a couple of different styles. I love looks that range from simple and sweet to edgy and bold. I try my hardest to share all kinds off different content and products so that there is a little something for everyone.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
The most important piece of advice I could offer to someone aspiring to start a blog or website is to not worry about others and to just do your thing! I dreamed about having my own blog since I was thirteen years old and I am so glad I finally convinced myself to do it. I have so much fun with it and wouldn’t change any of it for anything else. For the longest time, I kept my social media on private and didn’t tell anyone that I had a blog because I was so scared that I would be judged or people would think I am trying to be something I am not. As time went on, I realized that my close family and friends are people that care about me so they would be supportive of whatever made me happy (which is so true for the record)! And the ones who shared their negative opinions about my blog didn’t matter in the long run. They were not the ones who defined my happiness. So, if something small is holding you back from what you really want to do, I advise you to find a way to not let it.
