Life and Work with Ashley Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Evans.

Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began from learning how to overcome and grow in the face of adversity in my physical and emotional wellness. At the age of 19, I was involved in a major car accident after falling asleep at the wheel. I had struggled with anxiety and depression from a young age and was on multiple prescriptions which made me feel drowsy most days. I was fortunate to live through the accident and was left me with numerous broken bones including my back. Living in pain and back on numerous prescriptions for pain relief I sought out other ways to heal myself. I found strength training and was able to strengthen my body enough to be pain-free and off all medications. My passion for holistic medicine led me to pursue my degree in health science and health coaching from ASU. A few years went by and yoga found its way into my life as a relaxation practice and to help calm my overactive mind. After my second son was born, my husband and I made the choice to relocate across the country and found ourselves in Atlanta, GA.

The first few months were great, but as time passed, the loneliness and isolation of being in a new state with two small children led me down a path to extreme postpartum anxiety and depression. I opted to remain off medication (given my history) and approach it from a more holistic method. After a year and a half of lifestyle changes, mindset shifts, and some serious deep work, I was able to live a normal life free from debilitating anxious thoughts. This is when I began to research and develop a passion for helping others, especially moms, build a healthy balance in their lives and develop self-care that will enable them to feel fulfilled in all realms of their life. Helping others to achieve sustainable lifestyle habits and making positive and impactful changes is my number one priority.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My process has been ever evolving over the last 10 years. Just in the last two years, I have faced numerous physical and emotional challenges from hormonal imbalances, the decision to remove my breast implants, moving and living in 3 states (with two toddlers!) starting over in my professional life with each relocation, and learning how to listen to what my body needs from a nutritional and fitness standpoint.

The best piece of advice I can give is that we all go through seasons in our lives. Some may be less emotional or less stressful than others, but they are all very valuable to our internal growth. With each struggle, we have the ability to grow and learn.

Making small changes may not feel like you will get to where you want to be anytime soon, but if you keep consistent with your small goals, they will snowball and you will take a step back one day and realize you have made a BIG change in your life.

Keep your goals SMART (small, measurable, attainable, realistic, time-bound).

Please tell us about Ashley Evans Wellness.
I am a Holistic Wellness Coach. I work with people who are looking to make changes in their lives, whether on an emotional or physical or mental level. I take a look at the big picture and help clients see what areas of their lives are not benefitting them any longer. One of the areas I focus on are working with moms who feel stressed, imbalanced, and like they lost themselves in their new role as “mom”. Holistic nutrition is also something I work with my clients on and helping them to understand how food affects their overall health, mood, and hormones.
