Meet Abena Adu of The Pregnancy and Womb Wellness Center in Westchase

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abena Adu.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Abena. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I became interested in childbirth after the birth of my first child in 2008. I was unhappy with my hospital birth experience and soon realized that other mothers in my community were dissatisfied as well. I began to naturally assist women who were pregnant and postpartum and was soon called a “doula”, which is defined as a women’s servant.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been struggles along the way because of a lack of childcare, so I had to pause in the birthwork for a few months at a time.

Please tell us about The Pregnancy and Womb Wellness Center.
We serve women before, during and after pregnancy. Full circle doula services and doula trainings are available, as well as continuing education for birth workers. We offer vaginal steaming for non-pregnant women. We consult with women about birth plans, postpartum recovery, fibroid relief, fertility and more. Clients are able to experience exclusive shopping of womb wellness products.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child was spending time with my friends.
