Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrianne Olasunloye.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Adrianne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Wow. Where to start? Well, I’ve had an obsession with light and what it could produce ever since I picked up my first point-and-shoot 8 years ago! I owned a Canon Powershot in Metallic Orange of all colors! I was definitely a hobbyist that just liked to take snapshots of any and everything. Random people, friends at the beach, food, a stop sign… literally ANYTHING! Only to rush home and upload all of my images to Picasa3 and over-saturate them to the high heavens! Haha! Every single person that I photographed (no matter what race, ethnicity or skin tone) was ORANGE! Fast forward to December 2016. My Father’s side of the family put together a gathering at the lovely 1111 Studewood! The photographer we booked for the event, Kaci from Southern Envy Studios, was there to document the festivities. Nearing the end of the event, Kaci and I sat & talked about our shared interest in photography. I mentioned that I had invested in my first DSLR (a Nikon D3300) about a month earlier and that I dreamed of pursuing a career in the field. She essentially gave me a VIP ticket into the world of photography. How, you ask? Well, a few months later, she offered me a 2nd shooter position at a wedding at The Carriage House! I was stoked! I was nervous, pumped, queasy, and excited all at the same time! When the day came to shoot that wedding, I was introduced to my 2nd love. Wedding Photography (my 1st being photography of coarse)! It was hectic, busy, tiring, but AMAZING! I loved it! I knew that going down this crazy path was totally for me! I’ve heard many photographers (newbies & seasoned) shy away from weddings because of the nature of such a momentous event. But I EMBRACE the experience! So, to date, I’ve 2nd shot at 4 weddings and 1 of my own, and so far there’s 4 more in the books, & even MORE in the foreseeable future! Excited is not the word. Ready is the word. Ready to show the world my take on your love story! See you at the alter!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t describe it as smooth. Nor would I call it difficult. It’s been a challenging, yet wonderful experience thus far! I’ve educated myself by way of a Photography Basics Course through Shaw Academy, read numerous articles about the technical side of things, watched lots and lots and LOTS of YouTube tutorials, sat through hours of free webinars (and one paid/gifted), and just PRACTICED until the cows came home! I along with anyone else who has followed my journey has definitely seen the progression. And there’s more to come. Any mistake I’ve ever made, I’ve turned into a lesson learned. And that will continue to happen as I grow as a Photographer.
Adrianne Michelle Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Adrianne Michelle Photography started as an “I SHOOT ANYTHING” type of company! Haha. But I think that’s how all of us start; not really knowing in what direction we’d like to go. I’ve done everything from a portrait session of a bottle service girl to a 40th birthday party, cake smash session, grad session, family portraits and so on. After 2nd shooting at my 1st two weddings, I decided to focus solely on weddings, and make that my life’s work! What I’m most proud of is the growth of AMP (Adrianne Michelle Photography). I literally went from sitting in the break room of my old job (when I was a dental assistant) watching my online courses to booking 5 weddings (so far) in my first year of business. What sets me apart from other photographers, I believe, is my personality. I don’t feel like my “job” is a job when I’m shooting. I just feel lucky to be behind the lens & take beautiful images. I try to make people feel like we’ve been friends for years when I meet up with them at a consult or when I take their portraits. Photography is truly a labor of love for me.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It’s not just one. It’s whenever a client tells me how much they LOVE their images! How much joy it brings them when I deliver their gallery and they get to see how beautiful they are! It brings me to tears.
