Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex and Jenn Slayton.
Needing a change, a fresh new career, Jenn began looking into growing her skills in the tech industry. She enrolled in Designer Track course with Bloc focusing on UX/UI design. After completion and learning design principles, color theory, user habits and industry best practices, she began taking on clients as a freelancer. At that point, Jenn was designing marketing websites & mobile apps for small businesses and working with a real-estate start-up to design a SaaS web application. She then landed a long-term contract with a company based in Dallas and has since designed for mobile, web print, digital marketing, and social media specifically for their products and branding.
Alex spent most of his professional career as a musician. He spent over a decade on and off the road, then about 6 years working in churches as a worship leader. After looking for something challenging to take on and allowing his computer science skills to flourish, he enrolled in the Full Stack Developer Program through the University of Texas.
After completion, he began doing contract work for various development firms. After taking on clients separately and doing contract work for some large technology firms, it only made sense to branch out and start something they could do together! Gulf Coast Pixel was created! They laid out a plan to offer clients a full range of service options. If it’s digital, they can do it. Everything from marketing sites and mobile apps to full-scale SaaS (Software as a Service) development.
To date, they have had the opportunity to work on some great projects with several industry titans. Their desire to work alongside their clients in researching their customers, developing experiences that will create conversions, and implementing industry best practices for world-class technology. They are excited about what the future holds, the continued growth, and expanding their reach around the globe.
Has it been a smooth road?
“Not exactly. Learning new technologies isn’t the easiest of feats. Hey, if it was easy everyone would do it, right? Then starting any business takes hard work, creative thinking and lots of personal development to achieve lofty goals.” -Alex Slayton
“I have found that educating potential clients in the value of our work is one of the most tedious of tasks. Many learn through our on-boarding process the amount of effort and education it takes to create something awesome!” -Jenn Slayton
