Meet Brenda Beserra of Uptown Maids Houston in Inner Loop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Beserra.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brenda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as a babysitter and would clean my client’s homes, and eventually became hired on as a housekeeper and received many referrals. I then decided to make flyers advertising my housekeeping services instead of my babysitting services. I began to receive so many referrals, I had to have my sister help me keep up with demand. One of my friends from my hometown called me one day and asked if I knew anybody who was hiring. I thought to myself “me” and realized I had enough business to hire my friend. At that point, I realized I could hire 2-3 more friends and began driving them around to my customer’s homes. Once I had three teams of two, I incorporated my business and began buying cars for the teams to drive themselves in. I was able to create my own schedule on a spreadsheet and maintain a customer log that continued to grow on referrals and my flyers. Today, we have six teams (nearing 7), and almost 800 customers in our log and an automated scheduling system.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The business is very seasonal and things can be very demanding or very slow. Customers move and change management so we do our best to maintain as many customers as possible with consistently quality cleanings to give our teams a full-time schedule.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Uptown Maids Houston – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a perfectionist and strive to hire team members who share my vision. I do guarantee our work and do my best to make sure that customers are happy whether it is through the cleaning itself, or going the extra mile and doing something that could make their day easier (i.e., feeding a pet, letting customers know about potential home issues, working with nannies and others in their home, etc.)

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would love to continue on the same path of great growth and expand the business to the greater Houston area. All signs point to that happening in the near future!
