Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Salazar.
Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a Rapper from Denver Harbor. My whole life growing up music has been a huge part of my life. No matter what I was doing I was listening to music, whether it was hip hop, rock, corridos or whatever, I always wanted a soundtrack to what I was doing. I didn’t start making music until I was in high school, but everything I was making was terrible. I had dedicated my life to it though, so I knew I had to get through the wack music to grow. Once I had graduated that’s when I really started just blossoming into what I am now.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it’s been hard. One of the hardest things is waking up and continuing to do it. Especially when you feel like you been jogging in place it’s hard for sure. Growing up in Denver Harbor nothing was given to us easy. I come from the mud, so when things get tough, I just keep pulling through. I hustle it out.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I wouldn’t say I’ve accomplished too much yet, I have a lot more to do. I have a song with Houston rap legend Lil Keke’ that’s a really huge thing for me, that’s when I knew I was full steam ahead with this.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
To be honest I feel like with this music shit, you can’t think about luck. You have to go out and get it, make your opportunities and don’t let them pass. It’s all about grinding, that’s how I see it. I’m not going to let “fate” make my career, I’m going to wake up every day motivate myself and make it happen.
