Today we’d like to introduce you to Darriuz Carter.
Darriuz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up around photography my whole life my nana (aunt) worked for life touch and would bring backdrops home so she could practice so my brother and I where always models for her, during middle school my mom & nana got into doing wedding photography and opened their own business. Seeing the raw pictures and finished ones was very interesting to me coz it was beautiful before but after edits and effects it was a whole new picture it told a different story. In 2014 my grandma bought me a camera for Christmas and I shoot everything that year and learned edited that year I took a photography class and fell in love with different models of cameras and film and studied photos and film and how the artist showed emotion through poses and facial expressions this helped me by finding different styles and trying them and making them my own and being able to adjust and keep everyone interested in what I’m going to do next. I got where I’m at today by having a great team behind me I really have to thank my manager Kevin and best friend shades who always keeps me down to earth and who push me everyday to not only be a better artist but a better man everyday every couple weeks we plan out what where going to do for the next three weeks what where working on and what we learned from the previous three weeks this really keeps my mind sharp and helps me evaluate myself and allows me to adjust and change as the weeks go by.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The struggles I have ran into personally are creative blocks not being able to think of anything and trying to force ideas was something that I had to deal with and overcome the first couple of years. Another struggle I ran into was over Thinking my pictures and not wanting to put them out because I thought that they weren’t good.
Thatkidcarter – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m really trying to be the best photographer in Texas I love photography and creating art I specialize in creative pieces and one of a kind work to spectate my self from other photographers, I’m most proud of younger kids coming up to me and saying that I inspire them or even older people saying my work inspires them.
What role has luck played in your life and business?
I look at life like right place right time or wrong place right time I don’t believe too much in luck you just gotta go with the cards u where handed and make the best of every situation.
