Meet Felicia Spencer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Spencer.

Hi Felicia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a multi-business owner born in Houston, Texas! I’m a wife of 10+ years and a mother of two handsome boys. I have always had an entrepreneur mindset, with my dad being a baptist minister, real estate investor and my mother working incorporate. At a young age, I began working at my fathers’ church, cleaning and printing documents at his real estate office.

At the age of 20, I opened my first home daycare while selling jewelry on the side. From there, I built my first house from the ground up, expanded my home daycare by adding 24 hrs and transportation. In addition to my son and I daycare empire W.R Norton childcare program, I have become the first African American Woman to own my own National Youth Basketball League in Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District while being a life insurance agent, real estate investor, trucking company owner & Total life Changer where I sell healthy natural products!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Becoming a young daycare owner at the age of 21 was a challenge due to my age. In the beginning, parents loved my personality and daycare structure but still proceeded to enroll their children in other daycare’s because they didn’t have the faith that I would be consistent in showing up due to me being so young at the time.

In addition to starting out at a young age, when it came time to expand my business by offering transportation services, I could not get bank approval to buy a daycare van. Therefore, it took longer for me to expand, build business credit, and add additional services to my business. Although starting my entrepreneurial journey at a young age was a blessing and a curse during the time, I would not change it for the world because it made me into the resilient person I am today!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Mrs. Spencer & Associates is a consulting agency offering a wide range of services such as starting a home daycare, affordable small business/personal legal protection plans, life insurance terms, and much more.

What sets my business apart from others is that I believe in making your vision into reality no matter what obstacles life throws your way or what stage you are in life. My passion is to help others, and the motto I live by is with “God, all things are possible!”

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The most surprising thing about me that most people do not know is that I wear many hats. I am an African American female business owner of multiple businesses, a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, among many other titles. In addition to my business, Mrs.Spencer and Associates, I run a family trucking business with my husband and late mother, which I inherited from my father (also deceased now). While I have multiple businesses, the trucking business is my family’s legacy; however, it is my least favorite.
