Meet Jairo Fernandez and Dr. Meraj Mohebi of Edoxx Engineering in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jairo Fernandez and Dr. Meraj Mohebi.

Jairo and Dr. Mohebi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Edoxx is a US Company based in Houston, Texas, with 70+ engineers and technicians delivering advanced solutions in reverse engineering, 3D Intelligent Models, Laser Scanning, Asset Data Management, and application of Industrial Internet of Things (iIoT).

We help engineers, contractors, and facility owner and operators make faster and smarter decisions by building accurate error-free as-built intelligent virtual facilities based on the data captured from modern state-of-the-art laser scanners and the data and documents available for the facility.

Our company prides to be the best and the most advanced global reverse engineering and Asset Data Management solutions firm delivering a service that enhances the productivity of our clients and dramatically reduces their operational costs.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
EDOXX has been no exception from the overall effect of the recent downgrade in the oil & gas industry. However, in general, implementing new technologies in the industry to generate higher value through changing the traditional ways of doing things is a challenge we have taken on.

Helping the clients discover their own deficiencies is not an easy task. However, this has also been rewarding being one of the main factors that kept us progressing in the subject field and lead the industry with our innovational and flexible solutions.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Edoxx Engineering – what should we know?
EDOXX is a technology-based niche-type company which combines its engineering know-how with the fast-paced world of Information Technology. By means of integrating the latest computer tools, EDOXX reverses engineers the “Intelligent Virtual Facility” of the plants, refineries, and manufacturing assets and helps its clients with upgrading their facilities to fully-controlled digital assets with up-to-date data.

The workflow starts by laser scanning the existing facility, back 3D modeling all the components of the facility, integrating all the available engineering, construction, maintenance and operation data and documents into the components of the 3D model, and mounting the resulting virtual asset on an online-accessible user-friendly platform. The final step is to instrument the critical equipment and the plant’s control system to communicate live with the virtual facility by applying the Internet-of-Things (IoT) concept into the online platform.

The resulting Intelligent Virtual Asset acts as a centralized data and document control system, planning, and operation database gravitated around the as-built 3D model of the facility. The product proved to be a major cost-saving tool for the oil & gas industry which usually suffers lack of data, unplanned shutdowns, and reactive decisions made in critical times based on traditional and usually conservative approaches.

Our clients range from owners and operators to inspectors, insurers, licensors, EPCs and vendors mainly in the oil and gas industry. The company’s headquarters located in Houston, TX, with value centers in Helsinki, Finland, and Bogota, Colombia. EDOXX has been servicing the industry for the past 17 years.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Along with its path of success, EDOXX prides its partnership with Acuren Inc., a leading oil & gas service company which provides state-of-the-art nondestructive testing, inspection, and engineering services in over 80 locations having over 4,000 employees throughout North America and the United Kingdom. Acuren has been supporting EDOXX in developing their distinct cutting edge technology and implementing their solution into the oil & gas market.
