Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Mitchell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Julia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my career almost ten years ago on accident. I’ve always loved kids, teaching & being a role model to them. My grandmother was a well-known artist, and on weekends I would work with her teaching art classes to children all around Los Angeles. She would always tell everyone my resume was just as long as hers (from the age of 2!). I originally went to college to become a fashion designer (later I changed my major to Child Development). My first year in college a friend of mine recommended me to a friend of hers who just had a baby, and was looking for a nanny. I fell in love, and from there my professional career started. Within the first six years, I had worked with a few families with children ranging from newborn-teen. My work has allowed me to travel the world, but four years ago I realized I really loved working with newborns, and educating parents. From there my focus grew from long term travel nanny to exclusively providing newborn care.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Getting to where I am now has been no easy road, and I feel like I am just breaking the surface, but what road is? I am thankful to have found one of my passions in life, and I wouldn’t take back my journey for anything in the world.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Mitchell Nanny Newborn Care story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in Newborn Care. I work with many families from first-time, to seasoned parents, during their postpartum phase. Each family has different needs, but I am usually contracted for three to six months providing overnight care. I have families who contact me to travel during this time, and sometimes I relocate for my contracted time. I help families create a day and night time schedules as well as sleep condition.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I do not believe in luck, but I do believe in putting exactly what you want into the world, staying positive and believing the best things will come your way.
