Meet Kevin Warren of Paradigm Training Center in Galleria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Warren.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, I took a typical 9-5 job at a successful engineering firm. The job was “safe” and “practical”- but it wasn’t fulfilling. My true passion is in fitness.

After briefly contemplating the idea, I launched a health and fitness blog in the summer of 2016 ( and began training clients online. I quickly gained the attention of the owners of Paradigm, and they offered me the opportunity to coach one class per week at their facility. One led to two, two led to four, and now I am the head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Paradigm where I work with both competitive athletes and the general public.

In addition to training, I also co-host the Saved by The Barbell Podcast and regularly contribute articles to online publications such as STACK and MyProtein. Oh, and I still have my full time job as a civil engineer.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Although I’ve been blessed with opportunities, the journey is not always an easy one.

Many days I leave the house at 4:30 AM and don’t get home until 8:00 or 9:00 PM. This hectic schedule can take a toll on my family obligations. It’s definitely not ideal to spend so much time away from my wife and young daughter, but thankfully they fully understand my situation and support my ambition.

They are the reason I do what I do.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Paradigm Training Center story. Tell us more about the business.
Paradigm Training Center is Houston’s premiere training facility for combat sports. As the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Paradigm, I train amateur and professional MMA fighters, Jiu Jitsu competitors, wrestlers, and the general public.

I specialize in giving combat athletes a competitive advantage in their sport, and teaching the average Joe how to unleash their inner athlete. I use a variety of methods including high intensity interval training, strength training, suspension training, plyometrics, and calisthenics to deliver a complete and balanced workout.

At Paradigm, we’re not just about performance. We’re about developing people. We believe that when individuals are placed in a positive environment with world-class coaching, supportive training partners, and a challenging training program- they will truly shine. What sets us apart from others is the fact that we CARE.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck when it comes to success. Luck is a term that lazy people use to justify their own failures and insecurities. I resonate more with the quote, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” None of these opportunities have been handed to me, and I’m proud of the fact that I’ve earned them.

That being said, I am blessed to have a wife who supports me 100% of the way in everything I do. I’m blessed to have parents who instilled in me strong values and self-confidence. I’m blessed to have a group of friends, both in person and online, who encourage me to keep pushing to achieve my dreams. I’m blessed to have mentors like Cory Gregory and Lewis Howes who have taught me how to build a brand the right way. And I’m blessed to work at a gym with a staff that has believed in my vision since Day 1.
