Meet Kimberley Berry of Belief Martial Arts, powered by ATA Martial Arts in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Berry.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My X husband Chief Master David Berry and I left Las Vegas, Nevada in 2006 after selling 4 schools and starting our lives over again in The Woodlands, Texas. Our move was prompted mostly because of our little girl on the way at the time. We were so excited to expand our company in a city that we loved after visiting and, we have seen the demand for what we were teaching was lacking!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When we moved here we opened our first location in one of the busiest shopping centers in The Woodlands, shortly after that we moved my sister here, who had also worked for us at our schools in in Las Vegas, and opened our second school with her has the manager of our new location. The beginning, like any business, had some bumpy roads but we prevailed and now, just celebrated our 32 years in business!

Please tell us about Belief Martial Arts, powered by ATA Martial Arts.
Our company and Academy is so unique and special. We are not only a giant, blended family, we are teaching a lifestyle, life skills and teaching kids that once you have confidence and believe that you are great and YOU can do anything you set your mind to, you can achieve anything. Our goal is to make every kid feel special and make every kid feel like a winner and…be a winner! If you close your eyes and see it in your mind, you can achieve it in your life! A family that kicks together, sticks together!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Being able to be a kid, be outside without having to have your parent attached to your side because of the things that ‘might” happen. I felt free and yet very loved by a wonderful family. I wish my daughter could feel that freedom but unfortunately, the world has changed since the 1970’s when I grew up.

A great group of people doing terrific things for their family of students! I really enjoyed the article. Thank you for teaching me so much in addition to the martial arts over the years.
