Meet Kretonia Morgan of WMLBA in Pearland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kretonia Morgan.

Kretonia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The vision behind the WMLBA came about in 2015. I’ve worked in Minor League basketball for five years all with men’s leagues. I understand the uniqueness of the minor league platform and wanted the women to have an opportunity to showcase their talent in a way that men have historically. Domestically here aren’t as many opportunities for women in professional basketball as there are for men.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been lots of challenges as you can imagine with anything new. The main obstacle is showing and proving we are here to stay. We aren’t a fly by night business. Getting hat necessary support in some markets has also be a challenge.

WMLBA – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m the President of the WMLBA. Day in and day out I do everything from working with our team owners to meeting with potential owners or sponsors. I’m most proud of the success of all our organizations and the high level of talent within our league. We have our own digital sports network designed for women’s sports to get coverage. We also have partnerships with Your Sports and Kaplan University that set us apart: our marketing, branding and overall solid structure and foundation set us apart.
