Meet Lou Guillory of The Venue @ Centerpointe Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lou Guillory.

THE VENUE @ CENTERPOINTE MIDTOWN is an elegant newly renovated intimate setting located in the heart of Greater Houston Midtown Area, just minutes from Downtown Houston, the Medical Center and the Museum District. The 78 years old Historic building was purchased in 1994 by Lou A. Guillory to house her counseling agency, Centerpointe Counseling Services, where she has provided therapeutic counseling services for individuals, families and groups for the last two decades.

Phase II of the use of this beautiful building include the addition of our premiere event venue with rental space for social, family, business and educational events. The use of the building as a Hospitality Venue was inspired by Ms. Guillory’s mother, Essie Frank who began the operation of her restaurant and bakery from the kitchen of the family’s three-bedroom home in southern Opelousas, Louisiana. She later moved her business to a rented building where she cooked and served delicious southern dishes, pies and cakes until she became ill at the age of 81. The facility’s Legacy space is named in her honor.

Ms. Guillory’s Hospitality interest was broaden through the years as her son took the family on a journey of hotel ownership and began the family’s Hotel Hospitality Company, Centerpointe Hotel Partners LLC, and in 2003 the doors were opened to their first newly constructed hotel, The Hampton Inn in Deer Park, Texas. The journey continued with the acquisition and renovation of The LaQuinta Inn in Dothan, Alabama in 2008, and most recently the development and construction of The Hampton Inn by Hilton Hotels in East Houston, and the soon to be opened The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Hotels also in East Houston. Texas. It is our desire that the Venue @ Centerpointe Midtown will be enjoyed for decades to come and all who enters our doors will be inspired to create their own memories.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Obstacles and Challenges are considered as opportunities only to advance to the next level of Faith to continue to grow.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Venue is in a prime location between downtown Houston and the Medical Center. It is design for quite intimate settings from any small to medium event with an outdoor garden.

We offer a variety of classes and activities which include yoga, educational workshops and spiritual enrichment classes. We can accommodate a variety of social events such as birthday day parties, bridal showers, pop-up shops, and wedding receptions.

We are open seven days a week including holidays for your special event.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was inspired by older women who gave me great wisdom to pursue my dreams and goals. I am the six of eleven children of working-class parents from Opelousas, Louisiana. I was the first of eleven children to graduate from high school and college.

My hobbies were cooking and sewing which I learned from my mother, later to go into the business of Hospitality.
