Meet Marc Harvey of MHB Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Harvey.

Marc, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As an artist, I always painted and sketched. While I was in school, I did makeup for my some of my girlfriends and my sister who modeled, as a hobby. I had a friend who was an established artist recognize my skill and told me I should consider doing makeup. That friend became my mentor. She brought me on to a modeling agency in Houston to train me to take her place as the Creative Director as she was soon leaving for New York.

As the Creative Director, I preparing the models for their 3 look, portfolio shots. I trained them how to walk and pose for the camera. I created the looks for the photoshoot, doing their hair and makeup and styling. I was also represented by several agencies doing shows for designers and magazine editorials.

I then worked for a few high-end cosmetics brands like L’oreal and Bobbi Brown. I then got an offer to be the Global Director for Luminess Air. I was the first to introduce airbrush makeup to the masses as the face of consumer airbrushing. I served as a beauty expert, Brand Ambassador and Global Artist for Luminess Air on the Home Shopping Network (HSN) and The Shopping Network-Canada for several years.

I was the first African-American male to be featured as an expert selling beauty on these networks. I created training videos and manuals for retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Dillard’s and ULTA. I also served as Director of Research and Development, being the foremost player in taking that brand to new heights.

I have been a leader in airbrush education and research and development having been a featured artist an educator in Hong Kong, Japan, Paris, Italy, and Taiwan. As an entrepreneur, he spent time in Taiwan partnering with the makeup industries leader in airbrush manufacturing (SPARMAX), to create and co-found Elementwo Pro Cosmetics.

This type of partnership had never happened in the company’s 25-year history. I worked with a world-renowned chemist that took my custom color science and merged them with proprietary silicone formulas to create a product that functioned unlike any the industry had seen before. This creation garnered him recognition from multiple award-winning artists and several media outlets.

Three-time Academy Award-winning makeup artist, Ve Neill, used Elementwo creating her awe-inspiring look for Effie Trinket in ‘The Hunger Games’. Also. Emmy Award-winning makeup artist and beauty expert, Kevin James Bennett, listed the foundations as “kit essentials” on his website IN MY KIT.

Now, With Marc Harvey Beauty, my passion for creating quality products for the masses has been fulfilled. This is the product salons, spas, and everyday consumers have been waiting for. Airbrushing is not only for special occasions anymore, it is for “every woman, every day”. The MHB Cosmetics brand launched the ‘Exclusive Air’ line for the client that not only cares about her aesthetic beauty, but recognizes her products must have a feel function, and texture she desires.

The ‘Exclusive Air’ ULTRA HD line of airbrush foundations, blushes and bronzers have a proprietary color science and formula that make them perfect for all skin tones. They also feature skincare quality, natural botanicals, and extracts. The skincare benefit truly makes this product exclusive in beauty and innovation.

Marc Harvey Beauty has a new skincare product under its umbrella that was launched in October called MySkincAir. It is a skincare line that uses the power or Oxygen and Organics for a rapid result against acne and aging.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth at all. Like any industry, you really have to prove yourself to be recognized. Most importantly you have to be very skilled. In my experience as an African American man, I have to be 10 times better than my counterparts. Working in the high-end retail world I experienced racism and bias.

I also had flagrant opposition in some of my career milestones. You can’t be emotional in business. You dust yourself off and move on! Only you can create your best “self” and only you can prevent yourself from your highest level of success. You have to let opposition and hardships make you stronger. You will prevail.

Please tell us about MHB Cosmetics.
I’m known as the “King of Airbrush” or “Complexion King”. As an artist, my aesthetic is a clean beauty. I focus on perfectly color matching my client’s foundation so that it looks like they aren’t wearing any makeup. I specialize in complexion perfection! I also create beautiful products that are skincare quality and look amazing on the skin.

My business is very complexion focused. I do beauty makeup and my product line doesn’t have a lot of lipsticks and eyeshadow options. I do feature collections during the year.  My core product is the consumer airbrush. The line also features foundations, concealers, primers, moisturizers, and highlighters. They also feature the very best organic and natural ingredients.

It’s a line that is versatile enough for a professional MUA and luxurious enough for the everyday consumer. The diversity of products for all skin tones and types is phenomenal. Whether I’m working on my celebrity clientele, a beauty queen or the everyday client, MHB Cosmetics gets it right!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. I am where I am supposed to be. The lessons I have learned along the way have made me a better businessman. The good, bad and the ugly. It’s all helped to have a positive perspective in my life and career.

    Hello Marc
How are you? I am interested in taking your class for makeup application if it’s available. I would also like to purchase one of your air brush kits. Can you please advise on any training you may have.

    Thanks
