Meet Margo Curette of Hang It Up Laundry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Margo Curette.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Margo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a single mom with two daughters, I always found that our laundry was never-ending. After church, Sundays were usually completely dedicated to inside chores to keep the flow of laundry going. I would start a load before cooking, start another load before giving the girls a bath, start another load while combing hair, etc. Then I would spend a few hours catching up on TV while folding all of my freshly washed clothes, and by the time I finished, I couldn’t fathom putting it all away! I would occasionally hire a maid service to come to get the house back in order, but I could not find such a service to help me get the laundry in order.

After speaking with countless moms who felt my pain, and hoping I would find such a service, I decided to create what I knew to be missing. So, in January 2020, I filed my LLC and put together a plan for how I would enter entrepreneurship and exit my job in the construction field. BUT 2020 had other plans! Around the time I had planned to start rolling out my marketing efforts, COVID-19 swept the US by storm and we were quickly quarantined, social distancing, sanitizing, and wearing a mask. I didn’t just pump my breaks. I completely put my plans on ice!

While going thru quarantine Houston entrepreneur, Chloe Cook, was offering virtual coaching sessions. I was honestly nervous to present my idea, but the session went well. She told me, “Don’t wait, get started now!” and with that, I began posting and building my following. Within that following week, I gained 50 new followers!

As of today, I am a small business that is still growing. I am creating a lane in the service field that is practically untapped, but I hope to grow it into a new normal!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I mentioned before, obviously COVID-19 and quarantine have been major challenges. Creating something new amidst quarantine has been complicated. Gaining people’s trust enough for them to invite you into their home is difficult under normal circumstances, but throw a pandemic in the mix, and you have a new level of relationship-building you have to master!

Hang It Up Laundry – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Hang It Up Laundry Service is an in-home laundry service. Our specialty is going to client’s home and taking care of their laundry needs. When booking, the client chooses the level of service they want, which range from putting away and organizing pre-cleaned laundry, too doing it all from wash, dry, fold, and put away.

What sets us apart is most mobile services pick-up/drop-off, but we see to it that the laundry is put away, so our clients don’t have a basket full of clean clothes they are pulling from til the next laundry day! I am proud to offer our clients a solution to their never-ending laundry baskets and give them back their time to do the things they enjoy doing!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m just getting started so I’m sure there are many major milestones that await me, but at this point, the amount of support and encouragement I get has made me the proudest!
