Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Lewis.
Melanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began my career in the fitness industry at a neighborhood gym when I was a senior in high school. A year later, I got my first certification at the Cooper Institute in Dallas and began training clients. I continued to do so throughout my college years. After graduating from the University of North Texas, I decided to continue on my path of helping others change their lives, 23 years later and I am stallion the fitness industry.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Over the years, I have had more ups than downs, luckily. In the fitness industry, the average turnover rate for trainers is 80 %. There are a handful of us that have survived and still in the game.
Inspire Fitness Houston – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I believe what sets me apart is my personality and professionalism. I specialize in motivation and inspiration, helping a client to know the unimaginable can become a reality. The business of fitness is what I get most excited about. Anyone can put together a great workout, but understanding the psychological aspects of a workout is a different realm.
I am certified through the National Association of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist. I also have certifications with AFFA, IFTA, New Leaf and Peak Pilates Reformer.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is living my true purpose and having a positive impact on the community to live a better, happier and healthier life. In order for me to be successful, those around must also be successful.
