Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Markiewicz.
Mike, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my financial career as an Accountant for an international Oil and Gas company in the Houston Galleria area where I was responsible for three subsidiaries in three different countries. From Accounting, I transferred into other financial roles as a Bank Reconciliation Analyst, and Financial Analyst for large international corporations.
Although I had gained a great deal of experience in the corporate finance world, the birth of my first daughter in 2013 changed everything. I wanted to spend every minute with her, and knew I needed to pursue my dream of owning my own practice as a Financial Advisor. Fast forward to 2016, my wife Megan (and high school sweetheart) and I were again blessed as we welcomed our second daughter into the world. With a family and a business built on happy clients, I am committed to my client’s financial future.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The decision to start a business invited some big changes. Most importantly, was I ready and confident I could leave my stable corporate job for the hope I could start a profitable business? I knew the only way I was going to make it happen was if I put 100% into establishing my company as a trusted source for financial advice. I can’t take all the credit through-without a doubt the biggest advantage I had was the full support of my amazing wife, Megan.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I was once told that “success is the progressive realization of your goals.” I see success not as an endpoint, but as a target that is always just one step ahead. This means constantly setting new goals and once those are reached, setting the bar even higher the next time around. In training new advisors, I’ve found that it’s not intelligence or ability that sets those who succeed apart from those who do not. The defining factor is confidence and dedication.
