Meet Osiris May of ClickMode Pix in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Osiris May.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Osiris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been an artist since preschool. Drawing everything and anything I could get my hands on. My mother noticed it was the only way to keep me still for a long period of time due to being diagnosed with ADHD. In high school, I fell in love with black and white photography and wanted to learn everything I could. There’s nothing like seeing your images come to life in a dark room. One day I would like to get back to developing my own film. When I made it out of high school and into college, my passion became graphic design.  Not long after I landed my first job as a graphic designer for a small digital media company in Silicon Valley pre the first internet boom. Trying to build my portfolio outside of work, I would do album cover designs on the side for local musicians, nightclubs and anybody that was paying.  After dealing with flakey photographers, I decided to pick up my camera again. I blew off the dust and started shooting for my clients who needed good portraits for their album covers. It was a win win. It definitely wasn’t a walk in the park and took a few years of perfecting my craft. But when I got my first $2000 check, I felt I was able to finally prove that I can be a real photographer.

Has it been a smooth road?
When I first became independent I left my backpack after a shoot in my car in San Francisco. When I came back about 10 7 thousand dollars of equipment had been stolen. I was behind broken and if it wasn’t for my wife pushing me to get back in it. I probably would be selling life insurance or something but of the 12 or so years being a “professional”  I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience with a client until recently. She was probably the worst I’ve had to deal with ever lol. Of course I wont get into names and all that but I knew before we started it was going to be an issue. All I heard was how much she didn’t like the way her hair & make up artist did her hair. So days later when she got the photos back she absolutely hated them and wanted a refund. I offered a reshoot with my make up artist and tried to work with her several times, but even with my photoshop skills I couldn’t make her happy. It’s taught me a lesson and the result is implementing a clause that doesn’t hold me liable for how you look at the time of shoot. I’m not responsible for your hair and make up unless you book that with ClickMode.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
ClickModexo.com is not just a typical photography studio. We specialize in several different things from portraits, weddings, headshots to high fashion editorial and product shots for your restaurant and or local realtors. We also have amazing hair & make up artists, as well as digital retouchers that can handle any size job at an affordable and timely fashion.

I recently launched on clickmodexo.com a new exciting workshop for beginners or pros that want to learn how to properly light a subject using strobes. It’s a hands on step by step lighting workshop that covers how and when to light your model perfectly. I provide the model, lights, location and a free editing session after the shoot teaching you high end editing techniques. All you need to do is show up with your camera and be ready to shoot.

What were you like growing up?
I believe my friends would say I was the entertainer in class. Not a class clown just always quick with wit and tried to keep the energy going. I had my share of pushing it a little and getting in trouble but I believe I was liked by most people. The hardest thing was moving around alot. Raised by a single mom with 2 kids isn’t easy for anyone but my mother did the absolute best she could raising 2 boys. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for her patience lol.
