Meet Ryan Barthel, Joe Avila, and Thomas Randlett of

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Barthel, Joe Avila, and Thomas Randlett.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
While working at our 9-5 job, back in 2013, we saw a need for a website to help local mom and pop businesses, that didn’t have a voice online. In an effort to help those businesses, we started

Our goal was to provide a platform for local businesses to connect with the community so people in Fort Bend can easily find shops and services around them. Before we knew it, we over 200 businesses registered on the website, and we’re still growing and making improvements to our website.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a long process, after forming our partnership, it was very difficult to get schedule time to work on our dream while working full time jobs. Tensions and doubt started growing after one of our partners decided to leave within the first year. The three remaining partners really believed in what we were doing and didn’t want to let it go. At around the two year mark, after handling life issues (divorce, changing jobs, etc.) we finally found ourselves in a place where we could build toward our goal.

After years of straying away from our original concept, we are going back to our roots and focusing on the community side of My Fort Bend. In an effort to be more community driven, we are re-introducing the website with a fresh look and we’re now allowing anyone to submit blog posts, events, businesses, and more.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about – what should we know?
