Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jeppson and Rose Campbell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer and Rose. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Rose and I are both moms of larger families and have worked as birth professionals for more than two decades combined. When we met in a birth professional group a few years ago, our shared experiences made us just click! We’ve been friends ever since. Not long ago, Rose approached me with the idea of using our experience as moms and birth professionals to create gift boxes for expectant and new parents. I loved the idea and immediately offered to come in as a partner. Things have moved really quickly from there- our business is up and running and we’re getting a lot of positive feedback from the community and our customers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some struggles. I own and run two other companies with my husband, one of which is brand new (Hemp Maiden, Texas’ only fully hemp based store) and one which is being completely rebuilt (Simply Sweet Marriage, intimacy products for couples). I’m currently retired as a birth professional, but Rose still works full time in the field. Plus the kids! I have eight and Rose has five. It’s been hard juggling the needs of a new business and making sure our children and other responsibilities are covered, but we love the work with The Stork’s Warehouse and wouldn’t change it for the world!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Stork’s Warehouse offers gift boxes designed by birth professionals for expecting and new parents- we offer everything from 1st trimester, to labor and delivery, to the newborn stage. Each box is filled with full-size products and samples from companies such as Seventh Generation and Good Mama and is designed to meet the needs and wants of our customers during each stage of pregnancy and the postpartum period. We also offer small gift boxes with samples for birth professionals such as doulas, doctors, and midwives to give to their clients or patients.
We’re very proud of the fact that the products we offer are chosen for parents, by parents. Our background as birth professionals, people who have spent more than two decades working with new and expecting parents, is what sets us apart. It gives us a special insight into the needs and wants of our customers during this amazing time in their lives.
What were you like growing up?
Overall I would say I was a pretty outgoing child, though I loved to curl up with a good book. I grew up as one of the oldest kids in a large family (most likely the reason I have a large family myself!) and loved babysitting and sports. I was also very interested in obstetrics, which is what led me to working as a birth professional and eventually to Texas so I could begin attaining my bachelor’s at Texas Tech with the eventual goal of attending TTU’s medical school and becoming a family practice doctor.
Rose was a very animated child- bubbly, with lots of energy. She loved to be around babies and kids and always knew she wanted to be a mom. Working as a doula just felt like such a natural extension of that love. She was also athletic, with varied interests; she really enjoyed playing the piano and taking ice skating lessons.
