Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy and Carli Seiter.
Tammy and Carli, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was growing up my Granny and my Mom made most of my clothes, blankets, etc. So it was natural when my daughter, Carli, was born, I started making her clothes as well. I wanted to teach her the lost art of sewing and I was delighted she fell in love with it. Needless to say, my Granny was a huge inspiration for our business. One of the things all three of my kids enjoyed was their Nap Mats made by Granny. We have taken her idea and reformatted into our very own Nap Mat.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in life is a super smooth road! It is a work of the heart. We started the business in our laundry room which we outgrew. We then moved into the guest bedroom which we outgrew. Then we took over my husband’s office which we outgrew as well. We are now settled in our kid’s old game room that we have enlarged to accommodate our growing business.
Please tell us about Carli’s Closet.
Handmade all the way! Definitely a labor of love. We don’t want to have a mass production company. We love the idea of making and creating our very own products. To our amazement in recent years the Nap Mat orders have soared. We are now offering two different styles with a large selection of fabrics to choose from to tailor the customer’s preference. Our mats are custom made and can also be personalized. When our customer opens their package, we want them to feel like they are opening a present and instantly fall in love with their purchase.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We have found that issues become lessons learned, if you let them, and these help us grow personally, and grow our company. There will surely be more lessons to be learned – I don’t believe you can grow without these lessons along the way and I wouldn’t change a thing.
