Meet Tim Bridges of Markpointe in Richmond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Bridges.

Tim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As the world invested more and more in technology and robots, we chose to invest in Humans. Using new-age tech-tools, innovative ideas-strategies, and an extensive Human network, we are on a daily grind coaching the millennial working class in realistic industry work ethic and expectations. Markpointe is about manufacturing a mindset for Human success during the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Thank you for your interest in Markpointe. We are blessed to provide you with some insight into our partnership, as well as our “Tailored Workforce Solutions.” Markpointe is making an impact in several business sectors that we believe to be the way of the future. Our team is changing an age-old industry with new age technology and ideas. Our vision is to support companies nationwide in the IT, Energy, oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, distribution & logistics, traditional service sectors with the qualified personnel to carry out their specific tasks. This is done by recruiting nationwide and with specific roles in mind, utilizing innovative technology, and a uniquely constructed network.

The idea of our partnership was formed over 15 years ago in Huntsville, TX, at the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University. 4 (Austin Walker, Jamison Horny, Pete Bertrand, and Tim Bridges) of our five members attended the undergraduate program together and became members of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. 2 (Austin & Patrick) of our partners met while serving tin the 82nd Airborne. Patrick LaPointe is a current MBA candidate at Rice University with a focus on entrepreneurship and strategy. Patrick and Austin formed a veteran staffing business after the military that was closed when we formed this separate partnership. Jamison comes from a long line of upstream oil and gas experience. He has had a life-long career based around land and title work, and staffing operations as well as a Juris doctorate. Pete understands premium processes of supply chain management and is managing our QA/QC department. Tim brings over 12 years of successful pipeline project execution and leadership experience to Markpointe, with an impressive track record of growing small to medium-sized businesses, meeting milestones, and budgets while surpassing client expectations and performance goals. The bonds that we have formed through the years are stronger than most partnerships, and that is a strength that most businesses don’t have as a foundation.

Markpointe is taking a new look at an old industry. Our business has grown quickly and now employs five entrepreneurial spirited sales/recruiters as well as a 70 man contractor labor force. We are the same size as any dusty old big named recruitment agency’s office and have two times the energy because we love what we do. Our team, the vendors, employees, contractors and agents joining our organization are considered as family. Our clients are considered family; you will go to great lengths for family, and that culture is what sets us apart.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Anyone that pretends that starting a successful new business is easy is lying. The process alone is taxing… Working and building with no near end in site and not collecting a paycheck for a long time was obviously what destroys most small businesses, but willpower succeeds. A lot of struggles come from dealing with banks and money transfers, but good accounting triumphs. Roles and responsibilities, who is in charge of what piece(s) was grueling, but strong processes and respect is the name of the game.

All that being said, I do believe our startup had a smooth trajectory. We have found each day gets better with time.

Please tell us about Markpointe.
We have carefully invested a lot back in the company to improve processes and procedures and technology, as well as add new support vendors. Markpointe is always looking for the next talented organization to network with and are members of several prominent organizations ourselves.

Our project resume in midstream-downstream specifically is impressive, although we are still a young business. It includes labor support for 100 miles of 20″ pipeline Montana (freezing conditions), 100 Miles of 30″ pipeline, 54 Miles of 24″ pipeline, 5 Turnarounds, Compressor station work, chemical cleaning, environmental cleanup, and pig tracking (Houston to SA dual 6″ & 8″ lines). We now have 70 contractors that can perform any task from accounting to IT to chemical clean to a valve repair. As for staffing and permanent placement, we have a database of many roles in business sectors such as traditional services, IT, manufacturing, construction, oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream), energy (environmental, solar, wind, nuclear, mining), and aerospace.

We have changed several individuals’ lives for the better. As a firm, we are grooming assets for success. When they are chosen, it is a blessing. What many people don’t understand and won’t take the time to learn is the recruitment process is long and prone to failure. As a recruiter, you have to find the right candidate for your organization and then that candidate has to be accepted by a client. A lot of times, candidates are warranted by agreement for 90 days, sometimes longer, sometimes less. So many stars have to align for us to be successful in this line of business. The sale has to happen to be allowed to recruit. Then you have to have or find the right candidate which is difficult. The client has to determine that is the correct choice from all the other candidates they have. If they chose our star, the candidate has to perform top-notch to complete their probationary period. Then the cycle is complete. Think about all that can go wrong in that process.

The fact that we are at a 100% retention rate for placed candidates is validation. Our program is the best. That is what we are most proud of as a firm.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Today we are completing the organization of internal divisions and building strong foundations for our future employees. Our future plans for the organization are to expand from the Gulf Coast area and support the entire nation from strategic regional offices.
