Today we’d like to introduce you to Addie Allen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started out when I was 15 years old, I was in cosmetology school during high school! We had an event where local salon owners came to see our portfolios and work one night and I caught a very popular salon owners attention with my makeup. She wanted me on board with her team! I stayed at the salon for a year and decided I felt it was time to freelance. I freelanced for about 3 years before I decided to start building my team and bringing on hairstylists and working with other artists. At the time I was working under makeup by Addie. I’m almost 20 years old now and I own my own company named “Hey Doll Beauty” we have been published in countless wedding blogs and am partnered with brides of Houston as a published vendor. Our work has also been seen on teen vogue, The today show and people magazine!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been some bumps in the road along the way! whether it was financially, trying to find the right candidates to join my team, dealing with clients who weren’t the greatest, or simple mistakes I might’ve made along the way. But, it’s all about how you handle them and carry yourself through it. I’ve learned to let things run their course. Challenges are bound to happen as a business owner or even an employee wherever you go but you have to learn from them and carry on. Always stay humble and believe in yourself even when you’re at your lowest!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hey Doll Beauty – what should we know?

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Take everything with a grain of salt and be patient. Nobody starts from the top. Building a business is a work in progress! Promote promote promote yourself and always know your WORTH, don’t underprice your work!
