Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Aqil.
Fatima, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started blogging in my first year of university as a hobby & haven’t looked back since. I absolutely love being able to use my personal style to create content and collab with brands I’ve always dreamt of working with! The best part, my vision, and my art are appreciated.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, it hasn’t, there are bumps in any route you take. The most important part is not to take detours – be yourself, be genuine, stay true to what you believe and never think of it as a competition.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a fashion blogger so my style and aesthetic are what makes me stand out, the way I am able to style something that other people can get inspiration from is what I’m all about. I’m most proud of how authentic I am and how people appreciate that, and I think what sets me apart is that I always collaborate with bloggers and never compete. If I get something, I’ll help others get it.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Yes, definitely! There are endless opportunities. I think the fact that we even voice the hardships we face and it’s a problem that the world knows exists is a step in the right direction. We get to do what we love while being wherever we want and living life the way we want. No one is the boss except you and there’s no glass ceiling in this business either.
