Meet Treney Juarez of Indulge Gourmet Desserts in Tomball

Today we’d like to introduce you to Treney Juarez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Treney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve loved baking since I was a kid. I had 3 EZ bake ovens! When I wasn’t using my skip it I was baking desserts with my little light bulb powered ovens. I was addicted to watching any cake/dessert show that came on the Food Network. I still am. Bronwen Weber was my hero!

After I graduated High School I was conflicted on what to go to school for. I contemplated being a nurse or teacher, but with a big push from my boyfriend I enrolled in The Culinary Institute LeNotre to study baking and pastry. During my time there I learned how to make French macarons and I discovered a new passion. Once I mastered them I started making character macarons of my favorite cartoons and video game characters.

I’ve always made desserts for friends and family so after graduating with a gold sash and honors I gained the courage to start my own business and started selling my French macarons at the Tomball Farmers Market.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Things have definitely not always been smooth sailing! I have anxiety and it can get bad sometimes. Owning and running a business is hard especially when you’re your own worst critic. Lucky for me my boyfriend and family are super supportive. They taste test everything, they like and share my photos and they always encourage me to keep going.

Indulge Gourmet Desserts – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets me apart from others is, me. I’m a nerd that watches anime and likes video games so I implement that in my character macarons. Every week at the market I have a new theme. You’ll see things from Mario and Luigi, Adventure Time, Totoro and Disney Princesses. I’m also a foodie. I get inspired by everything, I make a classic dessert with out of the box flavors like Hot Cheetos, Cosmic Brownie and the Elvis which is peanut butter, banana and bacon. You can definitely still find more classic flavors like vanilla bean and coffee, I have a flavor for everyone.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me success is being able to do what I love as a job. Every day I wake up happy to bake, it’s never a burden. Gaining regular customers and building relationships with them is what I strive for. Being able to share my passion with people and express myself creatively is the most amazing feeling. I couldn’t ask for a better job.
