Meet Jasmine Lewis of Vie Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Lewis.

Jasmine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I would refer to myself as an enthusiastic creative entrepreneur. My full story hasn’t even begun to unfold. My goal is to look back two years from now and say “I Rose the Bar. I am a Houston native that comes from a family that has instilled a very strong work ethic. Our mantra is failure is never an option. I trust God, appreciate the process, and recognize where I am. Prayer changes all things and that is how I live.

My story began after I graduated high school and went to straight to college, Clemson University, as a self sufficient student. I was a first generation and the oldest daughter, so I had a lot of people looking up to me. I studied Biology with a pre-med focus while in school. Fast forward after graduation, I moved to Atlanta pivoted quickly with my career and attended Elaine Sterling to become a licensed Esthetician. Vie Beauty was born as a result of goal setting. I wanted to have control of time after losing my grandmother, create change and have an impact. Over time, I was able to build my home-based business, Vie Beauty, into a brick and mortar. One of my major goals was to be able to work in my passion, build generational wealth and create a brand, product, and legacy for my family that I was proud of.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like the many successful entrepreneurs that we look up to and ask for everyday advice, many of us have faced life-balancing obstacles and hardships that will leave us discouraged or feeling the defeat of our businesses.

One prime example was learning to juggle a multitude of task on my own. Without having a budget or a team for my business, I juggle time management with the priorities of being a business owner, wife, employee, educator, and student.

The raging desire for growth and success and fear of stagnancy is an aspect of a business that can sometimes paralyze you as a person if you never disconnect. Every day I am learning that I have to take care of me in order to be at my full potential and reach past my goals to break ceilings. It’s learning that it is okay to say no and put yourself first.

It is learning that mental health days are okay, and it is learning that you have to fuel your body properly especially when going into full overdrive. Every day is an opportunity to get better and learn. Choose opportunities wisely and make sure that all things that you do- serve you!

Vie Beauty – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Focal point of Vie Beauty is glamour and beauty that boosts self-confidence and self-satisfaction. We aim to transform your everyday routine into instant glam.

Vie Beauty is a place where you can spend a small part of your day to experience our luxury services such as lash extensions, specialized skin care, or our internal healing experiences such as the yoni steam.

We aim to create experiences at Vie Beauty where our clients feel a sense of being, priority and glam. Our three-year anniversary party, “The Vie Beauty Experience” “rose the bar” by celebrating with an interactive digital Instagram party to show our appreciation to our clients. By highlighting the history of Black Beauty services, products and the successful business owners like Madame CJ Walker and Annie M. Turnbo, the party allowed our clients to understand the origin of “Black Queen Magic.” My vision for the party was to make my clients understand the need for our services within our community and most importantly to continue to feel like Queens.

In addition to beauty services Vie beauty also offers training classes all over the nation. We have hosted classes in three different states and have partnered with renowned salons like the Timothy Pamment Salon in CT and sponsored by companies such as Bella Lash. I have now expanded my training resume from lash extensions to volunteer teaching at Atlanta Mission’s, My Sisters House homeless shelter.

I educate women on their skin, beauty, and wellness which is partly what the “Love My Mis” campaign is dedicated to. The Love my Mis campaign teaches the importance of taking care of the body internally and externally on a low-income budget. “Love My Mis” gives estheticians, students, and other beauty professionals an opportunity to serve the community in a unique way.

Vie Beauty is also a space where other beauty professionals can gather for events such as pop-up shops, industry mixers or host makeovers for cancer survivors, Faye’s Love.

Our latest partnership has been with Kendra Scott where we hosted a sip and shop to benefit The Young Belle Project.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am immensely proud of growth and experience. Vie Beauty has morphed into this brand that I would be proud to associate with if I was not the owner. I am proud of the process it took to get here because I know the road ahead has so much to offer and I am ready to take it, own it and graciously slay it. I aim to create opportunities for other women as well as inspire them to be their best selves while building their brand and creating their legacy. Our product is scheduled to be released in 2020 and I am excited to showcase it to the world and introduce an unconvential way of displaying a product.

What do you like least about our city?
I love the culture. You cannot come to Houston and not experience the culture, food and people. Houston people are amazing and to be able to come from such a recognized place that I still refer to as “home” is nostalgic and also rewarding. A lot of successful women have been bred from Houston such as Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Phylicia Rashad. Houston is “the city with no limits.” I am the creative entrepreneur with no limits.
