Meet Zein Wafaie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zein Wafaie.

Zein, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a passion for health and fitness, but I have not always lived a healthy lifestyle, in fact, quite the opposite at times. I went through a lot of trauma as a child and that bled in to my adult life mindsets, beliefs and habits. In my earlier adult life, I was a heavy drinker, a smoker and even had an eating disorder as a teenager. I had a very low self-esteem as a teen due to severe acne that I could not get a handle on, until I grew up, did my research and began to realize that the acne came from my poor nutrition. I began to change my eating habits and would keep myself eating well for a time, but inevitably my mindsets didn’t change and I would fall off the wagon in some way. This yoyo went on for years.

Finally, I hit a rock bottom of sorts and God got a hold of my heart and I began to read the bible and began to see the lies I was believing. I am still on that journey of growing to learn the whole truth about who I am in Christ and will always be growing. This internal change in me began to create the external changes. I gave up smoking and drinking for good! I gave up eating wheat, dairy, sugars etc. Though I do indulge at times with some things, I make it a practice to eat well.

So how did I become a trainer? I was 40 years old at the time when I made the decision. It was birthed from inspiration I got from having gotten to see the, “Iron Man” Triathlon one year in The Woodlands. That race changed me and I knew I had to leave my career as a Nail Technician and get in to the fitness industry. I began getting more serious about my own health and fitness, I went to school while working and I earned my NASM Certification in Personal Training. From there I started my own Personal Training and Health Coaching business and I’m blessed to say that I’ve been in business for four years now!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe that anything that is worth its weight is usually going to have bumps and indeed this journey has! I was a 40 something year old female, single mommy for many years who didn’t go to college, so there was much to learn! Beginning this business was so much more grandiose than I ever could have imagined. I honestly had no idea what I was getting in to! I had to teach myself how to use the computer, how to edit videos and create content. I had to learn to build my own website as I could not afford to hire someone at the time. I constantly researched and often ran in to stumbling blocks! Owning this business has taught me so many priceless skills and I continue to learn every day!

Then there’s the actual training of clients. I did not have a niche going in as many do not, but within the first year God made it very clear that I was not only going to work with people who were healthy, but also clients who had special circumstances like illness, wheel chair bound, stroke victims, etc. I was in over my head with these precious people and it forced me to research, learn more very quickly and grow because of it!

Each challenge I have gone through has grown me so much that I find it to eventually become a blessing.

Please tell us about your work.
Train With Zein Personal Training has grown over the years. I am a “Certified Personal Trainer,” A “Health Coach” and “Certified In Sports Nutrition.” I am currently working on my “Human Movement” Certification. I specialize in Weight Loss, HIIT Training and Corrective Exercise. I do, “Online and In Home Personal Training and Health Coaching.” Online Personal Training allows each client to have custom programs built specifically for them according to what I find in their fitness assessment. The client is able to work out anywhere they want to, i.e.: the gym, home, park, etc. Each workout is done from the convenience of their own phone or iPad.

I’d say that what sets me apart is my approach to fitness. I do not beat people’s body up with harsh exercise that injures, but rather find out what their body is doing wrong functionally and build programs for each client to try to fix their muscle imbalances, so that they can live without pain and grow proper muscle. I get down to the why instead of putting a band aid on the issues the body is having.

This allows each client to safely and effectively exercise and focus on proper nutrition for maximum results in weight loss! Beating the body up with too much harsh exercise only injures the body over time, so I focus on “Weight Training, Resistance Training, Body Weight Training, HIIT and Stretching as well as Corrective Exercise!”

I would also say that including my faith in Jesus in my business sets me apart. Some people get offended by that, but for me, I would not have a business if it were not for God, so I will always include Him in my blessings, as He’s the reason I have this passion and I genuinely believe that to reach our goals and be fully successful, we must spiritually be in tune with our spirit, soul and body.

Lastly, I would say that I’m different because I take a more holistic approach to overall health and wellness. Like healing of the gut in order to see good results in weight loss. I will always encourage others to try natural approaches as these wonderful ways of life can be so effective and so healing, while being much healthier for the body.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I believe so yes! I am currently creating more content for my YouTube channel, which is slowly but surely becoming a real thing. I plan to make that my hub for information so that viewers can subscribe and learn all that I have learned. Many people have real issues that need real answers, and though I am not a doctor, I have learned through education and the school of hard knocks in my own walk in life, how to live a healthier lifestyle and how to encompass it spiritually, mentally and then physically. This is what I strive to give my clients, followers and loved ones. I will always be a student of this. Therefore, I will always have more to give my clients and viewers!

I am also working on more in depth programs for both my, “Online and In Home Personal Training and Health Coaching!”

I am currently offering many wonderful programs both In Home and Online, but I will be adding new programs for pregnancy, self care, nutrition habits, gut health and more!

I also hope to have classes that people can purchase or attend and I plan to create an ebook with all of my healthy recipes as well!

The possibilities are endless and I’m looking very forward to what the future will bring!
