Meet Frank Ortega

Today we’d like to introduce you to frank ortega.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My unique story isn’t so unique… I started doing graffiti art in 7th-grade which was in 96′ I think. Originally I was a breakdancer, but as it died out at my school, I put all my focus into graffiti. Sneaking out of the house at 3 am with friends to go tag some building and get our crew up “ins” crew was an everyday thing. As the years went on, I found myself opening my mind to other types of art, not limiting myself to only one style. Now here we are 25+ years later, graffiti art is being accepted way more nowadays,a lot of it has become commercialized which isn’t a bad thing because now we have a platform and in some cases a fan base to build on. This gives me a better opportunity than before to do what I love and provide for my family with it.

Please tell us about your art.
Most of my art these days I create on plexiglass I can create anything from Custom names to characters I can’t create signs for local businesses I also do a lot of abstract art for myself I use lots of bright colors and things or ideas that might grab a person’s attention. All of my art is original, no copies. I definitely try not to limit myself. I feel like the colors I use in my art give off a good energy and make people gravitate to it.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
As far as connecting with other artists you need to put yourself out there don’t be afraid to display your art don’t be afraid of your art and paint do collaborations with artists share your art as much as you can and the main thing there are no rules to art…
