Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Scott.
Lisa, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I stumbled upon photography seven years ago, playing with my mom’s Nikon point-and-shoot with my six-month-old, and I quickly fell in love. I got lost on my computer screen as I spent hours color grading and editing photographs that I took of my family and friends just hanging out, and the obsession continues. I love photography for its mystical forces of stamping a moment in time and the fact that it’s introduced me to some pretty cool humans. I like to consider myself an energetic picture-taker and someone’s professional hype person; making individuals feel great makes me feel better.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I shoot all types of photography styles, mainly lifestyle and portraits. But soon I’ll be stepping into fashion editorial. When I’m doing a shoot, I want to document something genuine, for instance, your facial expressions. I want the people seeing my photographs to feel each ounce of vitality. I need them to feel each chuckle or tear being shed in those photographs. My main objective behind shooting is comfort. I’m not about scripted or arranged ones. Since life doesn’t have a script, it just happens. And if we focus on experiencing it as it happens, then the photographs will flow.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
The one sort of artist that is regularly disregarded is the one group that may have the greatest challenge are photographers. Nowadays, nearly everybody is a photographer. Obviously, not every person considers themselves a photographer, but rather in the event that somebody has a cell phone, they may very well use it as opposed to coming to you for professional images. And that is also the majority of the seasoned professionals you’ll be competing against.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I encourage everyone to support local creatives in the community. You don’t have to be photographed by me or anything but spreading the word is awesome! You can see more of my work on Instagram @mariexbland and marieblandphoto.com
