So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I fell in love with the art of Massage Therapy while living in Hawaii. I loved the art of Lomi Lomi (an ancient Hawaiian restorative healing system), how it easily relaxes the clients and connects with each individual on a spiritual level. I strive to be a compassionate and dedicated massage therapist and have been practicing since 2012. I practice a with a therapeutic approach, focusing on helping clients reach their optimum health by providing efficient and effective massage treatments for both acute and chronic injuries, as well as for stress and relaxation purposes. My goal is to work one-on-one with all of my clients, in order to help them live a happy, pain-free, healthy life.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Let me tell you, it surely has not been smooth sailing for me as a small business owner! It is a great deal of trial and error; however, it is part of the learning experience. Once I decided to start my own business, I really had to start brainstorming on the location, how would I build potential clients, how would I manage my 9-5, so many questions were emerging all at once. I’m not from Houston and it is a very large city that can be frightening to an outsider, like myself. I prayed on it and within a few days a family member reached out to me about an online ad for space rental here in Pearland. The location was in the Pearland Towne Center, which was perfect! Great Location to build clientele, easy commute to and from surrounding areas even with traffic that I can make it work! I’ve recently moved to a new location and everything is coming together on one accord. I love being in the Pearland area sharing my passion with the residents and those who are visiting.
What should we know about K.Alexander Therapeutic Touch? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Right now, as of 2019, looks like my specialty is Deep Tissue. Every client that comes in so far wants a Deep Tissue Massage! I just simply listen to what the client says is bothering him/her and then, I gauge what muscles would affect that area and start to work from there. I feel as though I have a good concept of anatomy and understand where exactly the pain is originated from when I do an analysis before the massage takes place.
My client’s results is what sets me apart from others!
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
There are many opportunities right now in so many different markets for women. There is enough room for every woman to grow her businesses. It depends on how that individual woman positions herself to succeed, through her dedication and commitment, her perspective, and how she empowers herself and others to achieve goals she may want to accomplish.
