Today we’d like to introduce you to Addison Guerra.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Addison. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was 11 years old, I would work at my family’s photoshop in Baytown, Tx. I truly think this was a blessing in disguise because, at a young age, I was able to develop people skills, selling skills, customer service, and a good work ethic. I continued to work throughout my school years by cutting grass. Once I was old enough to get a job, I worked at the local movie theatre at the San Jacinto Mall in Baytown, and I continued working here throughout high school. My family instilled an excellent work ethic into me because I had to work for everything. Nothing was ever handed to me. I grew up playing sports, and I was blessed to be able to play basketball in college.
Due to injuries, I was not able to play a full season in college, and with that being said, I could not go on to the play at the next level. I built a lot of connections through sports though. I originally went to college to be a doctor, but I changed my major and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. While in college, I worked as a server at a few restaurants in town, but in my sophomore year of college, I started my own company. I put the connections that I had established to good use and was able to build a multi-million dollar business, all while still attending college full time. I like to keep my work life private. People always ask what I do for a living, and I usually ignore their question. There are less than a handful of people in this world that truly know what I do. I began to hang around and connect with like-minded individuals; people who were motivated, hungry, and successful entrepreneurs. Doing this dramatically increased my connections to unbelievable levels. While in college, I met my amazing wife in the most unexpected way. It could only have been the work of God.
We got married in 2014, and I not only got her for forever, but I also received a package deal with her and her son, who is now my stepson. In 2015, my awesome son was born. This all happened while I was in college, so I was essentially forced to grow up very quickly. I had a family that I was responsible for, as well as taking care of friends and family members. I had quite a bit of card stacked against me, but I was able to push forward in my business career as well as graduate with my bachelor’s degree. I have been blessed to be able to afford designer clothing and accessories since my business took off, and over the years, I grew very interested in fashion. I started researching many designer brands and keeping up with every collection that they would release. I researched how much work went into establishing and building brands, the designing processes, the production processes, fashion shows, and daily operations of the brands. After much research, I thought to myself, “I can see myself doing this.” I loved the thought of being able to design and create clothing and accessories that people will wear and cherish all over the world. If I want something then I go get it, so I decided to create the fashion brand, “Addison Guerra.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest hurdle that I had to overcome was the fact that I did not have any prior experience in the fashion industry. I am great at researching though, and researching, for me, was the biggest part of being able to start a fashion brand. I was able to research what exact fabrics and materials that I would need to be able to create the high-end quality garments. Another hurdle was being able to find someone to produce my items. I met with over 50 different studios and production companies across the world, and I had to make some hard decisions as to whom I wanted to work with. Another hurdle that I had to overcome was being taken advantage of by certain individuals and companies because they knew that I did not have prior experience in the fashion industry. Another main hurdle was a financial hurdle. I am building this brand from nothing solely by myself. I own 100% of my brand. I did not take on any investors to start this brand, and building a luxury fashion brand is definitely not cheap. I was recently on a privately chartered jet with a man that was in the corporate office for a large clothing brand. He told me “we have over 500 people in our offices doing the job that you are doing. More power to you. You are doing something that most people cannot or will not do, and you are doing it solely by yourself.” Even though this road was not smooth, and there were many times that I would get discouraged, I persevered and never threw in the towel. I had to keep reminding myself of the big picture of how big this brand will eventually be.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Addison Guerra – what should we know?
Addison Guerra is a new, luxury clothing line, that will create an envious style. Addison Guerra strives to be the go-to luxury brand when someone is wanting to wear a black item(s) of clothing. One color clothing for a brand has not been done before. Addison Guerra will be associated with black clothing, as Tiffany Blue is associated with Tiffany & Co. The brand will build itself to be acknowledged as one of the top luxury brands in the world, and it will be famed to have very unique designs along with top of the line fabrics and materials. To put quality in perspective, the qualities of fabrics and materials are on the same level as Hermès. The clothing line will never compromise quality as a result of pumping out mass amounts of items, such as other designer brands. The leathers are imported from Italy, the nylons and cottons are imported from Japan and Italy as well. Everything is made in the USA. Everything is custom when it comes to this brand: tack buttons, zippers, woven labels, leather labels, eyelets, metal tips for drawstrings, snaps, spikes, garment bags, hangers, hangtags, etc. Every custom material is coming from the highest source available. One of the main strategies of marketing for this brand is going to be hugely based off of the “high influence” connections and access to connections that I have been able to build over the years. I played on huge basketball teams in high school and I was able to play in college as well. With that being said, a lot of my past teammates and friends are athletes. I have friends in the NBA, professional soccer, NFL, and MLB. I also have high influence, global celebrities, musicians, and actors all ready to promote the brand.
