Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesley Everett.
Lesley, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
It all started with trips back to England to visit my husband’s family. I would buy up all of the fun and edgy children’s clothes that my suitcase could possibly hold. When we would get back to the states, and the compliments would roll in, I tucked the idea of starting my own line deep into my brain. Flash forward to 2016, I started making my dream (and eye for design) into a reality. I source quality fabrics from around the world and strive to use organic fibers as much as possible. I create the sewing patterns, and we (I support local seamstresses to help with production) assemble the clothes right here in Texas! Texas-born, Texas-made!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do, why, and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Bold statement – worthy children’s clothing designed & sewn in Texas using the best quality fabrics! I love that my items are sewn locally. I love seeing each piece’s lifecycle from my hand-drawn sewing patterns to the beautiful end product. It’s all done with love & care in an ethical way! I hope my clothing brings out that fun & wild spirit in your little one.
Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think our society has made it easier for small artists and makers. Consumers want to know where their items are made and the “story” behind the item. I appreciate every single follow, like and purchase. As they say, an actual person does a happy dance when you buy from a small business! Thank you for highlighting us Texans!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
