Today we’d like to introduce you to The Ally Green.
Ally, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself… I am a self-taught female photographer, born, raised and currently based in Houston, TX. My main focus is capturing music and portraiture; I have been doing photography for most of my life. It all started when I around 5-ish. My parents were my biggest influence; they always took pictures of me and other things. We have stacks of photo albums everywhere there’s barely enough room, and it caught on, I began taking photos with polaroids and Kodak disposables (my favorites) I ran through dozens of them and several trips to the local Sam’s to get them developed. Around 12 I finally got a DSLR and thats when the real photography came into play, I mostly took photos of nature because thats all that I had to work with at the moment then later moved onto subjects such as family members then that camera later killed over, unfortunately. So I took a short break until I was able to get a new one and once I did I was unstoppable! As I got older, I began to take it more serious. Less as a hobby, more as a career.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a photographer, a creative, a visionary.
Portraiture, Live show, and Landscape are the main categories I stick within my craft. My work means everything to me; it is the way I express and maintain my presence. My work is my own view on the world whether it’s a person, place, or thing, and usually apart of my most colorful ideas that are brought to life.
I hope to help inspire other young creatives (especially my age or younger) to follow their dreams, show their talents no matter what and never give up on what you have your heart set on because you never know what will happen, nothing is impossible. Love what you create.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
I believe in being comfortable with your own silence. I personally am an introvert, so it’s hard for me to connect with other creatives face to face, but social media helped me a lot with that. You start out speaking with them through dm and text, finding out you guys have a lot in common as artists, you share ideas or relatable situations then later meeting them in person and it’s a lot easier on everyone!
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
