Today we’d like to introduce you to Elzie Hollins.
Elzie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So, I got started in retail 18 years ago. My employment journey started at Chuck E. Cheese and ended at Ralph Lauren. Then this entrepreneur voyage (pun intended) of nnouunn began Dec 7th, 2018. I have always loved products, people, and places that convey a quality of life that is enriching and empowering; nnouunn is the medium by which I felt this could be presented to the Houston market. I also have always been a resource for people when it comes to finding great apparel, shoes, furniture, art, and any other thing that would help present their taste and perception before others; nnouunn give me an opportunity to do that for the city and not just my social circle.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road for sure has its potholes and debris that will require a level of vision and attention so that the hazards are seen before they impact the journey. Starting with a certain group of people, growing with a different group of people, and sustaining all of the above with another group of people is what retail is. Evolution of the brand and business requires a certain level of sacrifice, commitment, and dedication that everyone involved isn’t always able to manage. My greatest lesson learned so far has been drive slowly.

nnouunn is a retail space that educates and exposes people to things, people, and places in the local Houston/Texas market, domestic (USA) market, international (worldwide) market. We believe in creating a life concierges service that will establish an unmatched quality of life. We are so excited to serve the EaDo community because it looks so much like the world as a whole. From luxury to homeless in less than a block radius from each other, we get to impact and have a convergence all walks of life happen here at nnouunn. The cultural melting pot will establish a synergy that retail does not normally accommodate. This is what nnouunn is at its core and this is what sets nnouunn apart from any other retail experience.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe Houston is a mirroring image of a city that is waiting to become and establish its own identity. What I mean by this is, what passes through the city, the city reflects, and when nothing passes through the city, it is void of identity. A place like nnouunn is going to be a purposeful contribution to establishing the identity of the city. We don’t just sell things, we educated and empower people before anything. Helping people become the most refined versions of themselves help create self-worth and confidence that will allow for identity to be built at the ground level and community to be established. I would for sure say to anyone that wants to start a business like ours to do so here because if you can make it happen here, then you can do it anywhere. We are trailblazing a new culture here! We want as many people to join the journey as possible because if we move like a herd, we will make a stronger impact, faster.
