Today we’d like to introduce you to Paloma Cordova.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Paloma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started off posting makeup photos on twitter- not trying to gain anything or “blow up”- just enjoying and posting my looks. Eventually, people started finding my account and sharing my pictures which is what lead to me gaining 65k on the platform. My makeup-influencer career only lasted around six months or less and I quickly decided I’d much rather be showing my outfits and focus my career around fashion. I moved my audience to Instagram and YouTube and have been growing on those sites ever since.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not. I ended up selling my twitter account with 65k because when I decided to stop posting makeup- my audience went completely inactive. My first two years on YouTube were really inconsistent and I had trouble remaining motivated enough to post videos weekly. And recently, I had to once again start over on Instagram because the new algorithm was completely messing with my stats and there was no way to fix it. In between these major hiccups, there have been days of body/facial dysmorphia, anxiety and depression all connected to being an influencer.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Paloma Cordova – what should we know?
Well, to put it simply, my business is being myself. I post beauty, fashion and lifestyle content on Instagram and YouTube. I’m most famously known for focusing on styling outfits. My proudest moment is constantly changing but I think as of lately I’ve been really enjoying my work ethic towards editing my videos. I think what sets me apart from others is my honesty. I’m very transparent with my audience about my struggles and what goes on behind the camera.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I definitely have to give credit to my boyfriend (Brian Thrash) and to IAMKARENO- or Karen Yeung. Brian has helped keep me going even when it seemed like I couldn’t succeed and he’s constantly giving me 100% of his support whenever I need it. Karen was a really big mentor for me because she found me when I was relatively small and flew me out to do a campaign shoot with her. I’m still so grateful to this day for that amazing experience, it was one of the best weeks of my life and she gave me so much advice on the influencer industry.
