Meet Sarah Rimboch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Rimboch.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
As long as I can remember, art has been an important part of my life. My love for art began as a child & as I grew, so did my love for art. So of course, as I entered college, it made sense to go into Art Education. Not only would I learn how to work in a variety of art mediums, but I would also learn how to be an art educator. While learning how to teach, I spent many hours in various art studios. I dabbled in ceramics, glass blowing, photography, painting, drawing & fell in love with printmaking which was what I focused on. After I graduated from college, I found myself on a journey across the country from Ohio to Houston, Texas! Without an amazing printmaking studio to work in anymore & very little money, I found myself a little lost. I began to focus on finding an art teaching position. After finally finding a job teaching elementary art, I started to feel like something important was missing from my life. It didn’t take me long to realize that art was what was missing. So, without a printmaking studio to work in, I started to experiment with some new materials that I could use at home. This was when I discovered liquid paints. And ohhhhhhhh, was I excited! It felt soooo good to create again! I became obsessed with these new liquid paints. I worked with these paints for about six months before I decided to give resin a try. Once I started using resin, I could feel & see myself & my work blossoming. Now, three years later, I feel like I have finally found myself as an artist. Although an artist is always changing, evolving & improving their techniques, I feel like I finally feel confident & comfortable in my work & I am excited to continue to grow as an artist & share my love for art with the world!

Please tell us about your art.
Although I consider myself a jack of all trades, I am a resin artist. I create colorful abstract paintings using resin, acrylic paints & oil-based paints. I find inspiration in many different things with color being the biggest influencer. I also look at & take pictures of aerial view landscapes & land formations, geodes & photographs from NASA to get inspired to create. All of my pieces are original, one of a kind & most importantly made with LOTS OF LOVE! I have started to offer prints of my work too & have even started having my art printed onto YOGA MATS! This is a new adventure with my art & I am super excited to see where it takes me!

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I definitely can agree with this statement at times. I work from home in my garage. I choose to work alone, but I will say that sometimes I wish I had more feedback from other artists. This is also why I became a member of the First Saturday Arts Market- it connects you to other local artists & gives you a sense of community! I’m hoping to find an art studio space within the next couple of years, which provides artists with many more opportunities for events & potentially collaborating with your fellow artists who also have studios!

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I am a member of the First Saturday Arts Market which takes place on the first Saturday of every month in the Heights & the Folk Market at Sawyer Yards which takes place the second Saturday of each month. I am not set up every month, but you can also support & see my work by following my Instagram & Facebook pages!
