Meet Denise Case of The Princess Bridal in Old Town Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Case.

Denise, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always dreamed of having a wedding shop, since I was seventeen. I was the girl who at seventeen couldn’t wait for the Martha Stewart Wedding to come out. My husband & I opened a business that was his dream, we did that for twelve years. His dream paid for my dream.

Every day we drove to work and passed a beautiful old house, my daughter and I would talk about how one day we would have a bridal shop in that building. Finally, the building became available, we went and looked at it. My husband said “You don’t know anything about bridal, you need to do more research. Plus, this building might not even be a good deal for a retail space, do your research”. We were crushed! The building leased out. We did the research and learned it was a good deal and now it’s unavailable…we were so disappointed.

Three months later, the building is back up for lease. I called my friend who owned a bridal shop in Huntsville, she said “Come go to market with me this weekend”, so we did.

I told my Husband that I was just going to look, on Sunday I bought stock! We had not even signed the lease for the building yet, we did on Monday. The real work of turning a house from the 1900’s into a bridal shop, we worked for three months. All the hard work paid off the shop was beautiful and we loved it!!! We stayed in the building for seven years.

Located in historic Old Town Spring, The Princess Bridal is more than a shop! It’s a bridal salon experience. Elegant and eclectic, we offer beautiful bridal gowns in a carefully curated yet relaxing environment that includes a full range of gorgeous bridal accessories and jewelry. From the pops of bright pink in our luxurious interiors to the fabulous and friendly service of our dedicated team of stylists, we are determined to make every bride who walks in our doors feel as beautiful as she is on the inside. When we expanded and moved to our new building five years ago, we changed our colors but not our philosophy. Our philosophy is to find the perfect dress for each of our Brides. We love what we do and it shows! We are unique from other stores because we are not pushy sales people but instead are your stylist, the one who makes you stretch and try on dresses outside your comfort zone that make your body look amazing! Our new location, which we have been here for five years so it’s not really new…but we have five separate dressing rooms with cozy private seating for the Bride’s’ family.

Owner Denise Case and staff do their best to make your dreams come true! We hear from our Brides all the time how patient we are, but patience isn’t even something we have to think about…I guess when you love what you do it just comes naturally!

Has it been a smooth road?
Opening a new business is always a struggle in the beginning, especially when it isn’t something you have not done before but really it wasn’t that bad because I just really love helping Brides. There was definitely a learning curve on stock reduction, it’s so hard to let go of a dress that you love but it just isn’t selling. You have to remember that floor space is needed for the newest collection so out with the old and in with the new!

We used to carry bridesmaids but we quit so that we could expand our plus size selection. Best decision EVER! Our curvy Brides are so appreciative to put on a gown that fits, to have something besides the big box store of Bridal to buy a gown that compliments their bodies and is beautifully made.

Now after twelve years, I think the hardest part is not making it bigger. I remind myself every time I think of that life outside these four walls with my family is the most important and joyful thing in my life. Brides are my passion and every day that I am work is a great day but I have to keep my priorities.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Princess Bridal – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in Bridal gowns…. really anything that the Bride needs for her wedding day ensemble, except shoes. We have bridal gowns from size 6 to size 34 in every price point starting at $700 to $7000 with the largest collection being in the $1100 to $3000 range. We always have a nice collection of dresses that have been reduced in price to make room for the new arrivals.

We have a very eclectic style, so Brides are able to show us pictures of what their dream dress is and we find them that dress or something really similar. Our team of stylists all love Bridal, so they really want to bring the Bride her vision and then just tweak it a bit to create sheer perfection!

I am most proud of my team of stylists, how they each take pride in helping their Bride find the right dress. I am proud of the reviews that our Brides leave saying how much they loved their experience. I love how Brides compliment us on the cozy atmosphere in the shop and how they didn’t feel pressured to buy but felt like their stylist cared about them and their wedding.

Our philosophy sets us apart because my staff doesn’t get paid commission. I want them to find the dress–not because it is the most expensive dress, but because it is THE DRESS! We do our best to connect with our Brides to really find out her vision for her wedding, so that as stylists we can find the detail that make her FEEL like the Bride.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of people, we are able to help Brides from other countries who have now become Texas Brides. I love that our customer comes from surrounding areas and yet is willing to travel to our cute little suburb in North Houston and still only be a hop skip and a jump away from home. I love that we have a small town feel while just being North of the city. I love the diversity of food, just in our little surrounding area we have four top rated, awesome foodie restaurants and about four others…between all eight you can have your choice of home style to Mexican to barbecue, sandwiches, Italian, you name it Houston has it!

I hate the heat! I hate the traffic!
