Meet Cheryl Whitney-Huebner of Art In Motion Jewelry & Metal Studio in Montgomery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Whitney-Huebner.

Cheryl, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Creating for me, was something that gave me the freedom to express myself without words. Designing a piece of art or a piece of jewelry that encompasses the raw beauty of nature is a necessity for me. Being surrounded by nature is where I find my inner peace, my inspiration. It rebuilds my strength and heals my soul.

I was a professional photographer and loved the feeling of showing others how I saw the world and the beauty of nature but, I needed to create with my hands. I wanted more than just showing people what I saw.  I wanted them to have a connection to what they saw, something that moved their soul and they could touch it, feel it and wear it.  Something they too could express themselves with without words.

I’ve designed and made jewelry since I was a small child and always had a dream of owning my own design studio one day.

That day came October 17th, 2017 at the age of 50. I put down my camera and picked up a torch….
It’ was the second largest change in my life! The first was our daughter. At the age of 45, I was told I was expecting. She gives me the drive to succeed every day. She is my everything! I want her to see that she can be anything she wants to and will succeed if she works hard enough and believes in herself. She helps me choose the stones. She hands me my tools like a nurse in the operating room. She even creates her own designs. She’s my little surprise miracle at the age of 45 and even though it’s tough making ends meet… I wouldn’t change anything.

My goal in my designs is to mesh together my love for nature photography and my passion for jewelry making. “Metal is my medium, nature is my muse.”

Find what inspires you. Weave it into your heart and carry it in your soul. Give it the power to lead you to your truest self.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely NOT a smooth road but so worth the struggle.

Jewelry is a highly saturated market. You need to harness that fire that feeds you to create. Never give up, learn to step away and take a break, but NEVER give up.

As best you can, do not compare yourself to what you see on social media. Understand that you will become who you believe yourself to be and let the puzzle pieces fall into place without forcing them.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Art In Motion Jewelry & Metal Studio – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I was/am a professional photographer. Nature is my muse so whether I am holding a camera or a torch you will see the rawness of nature incorporated in all of my works.

My goal in my designs is to mesh together my love for nature photography and my passion for jewelry making. Metal is my medium, nature is my muse.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have plans to build my own studio where I can teach metalsmithing surrounded by nature.

Basically, my goal is to have a huge window filled greenhouse to work out of in the back of our wooded property.

I have the honor of not only owning several amazing pieces of her jewelry but also calling her my friend! She has always been passionate about her art and her vision. She is wonderfully talented and dedicated to her family and friends. Cheryl has worked hard to get where she’s at and I’m so happy to see VoyageHouston recognize her and acknowledge her talents and share her story. This is a great article about a woman, mother, wife, and friend that truly inspires others and shows that it’s never too late to go after your dreams!
