Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Hedrick.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After working in corporate for six years, I decided to be a Stay at Home Mom. Once my kids were in elementary school, I decided to follow my passion of cooking and entertaining. What started out as a hobby became a business. Before I knew it, friends and family were asking me to cater events in their homes on the regular.
That turned into guests at these dinner parties requesting I cater their son or daughter’s weddings. Then venues would request that I would be exclusive or put on their preferred vendor list. Before I knew it, I had a full blown catering and event planning company. We have catered weddings and private events for professional athletes, NASA astronauts, and some of Houston’s premier Fortune 500 Companies just to name a few.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The real struggle was, what I thought was going to be just a fun hobby quickly became a big demand, and I wasn’t sure how to handle it. I realized I needed to add a team to my small business.

We are 100% a custom catering company. We consult with every client to build them a custom menu. People really emphasize the style of our food and catering. We turn favorite foods into bites. We were ahead of the trend of comfort food designed to be cute and acceptable at weddings. We are super creative with our foods and menus. We get the biggest kick out of so many of our client’s using the phrase “We love using you because your company is so Extra”.
What were you like growing up?
I was an athlete and super outgoing. I feel that played into my business success. Owning a catering company and working with so many people really is a team effort. I approach every wedding, party, or event as my client’s Super Bowl.
