Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Romero.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started exactly one year ago this month! Well, ok, so the first wedding I did was exactly a year ago this month.
The journey with wedding planning actually started in July of 2017. My best friends mother, Laura, had just got engaged and was extremely overwhelmed. You know when you first get engaged, you’re in that over the moon phase, and then everything you’re going to have to do planning wise just kind of smacks you in the face. You’re thinking oh my goodness… the dress, the rings, the VENUE, the caterers, I mean everything!
So, I’ve always enjoyed planning things for as long as I can remember..trips, parties, you name it. I enjoy itineraries, schedules, and organizing things. It just gives me a high. I went to Laura’s house and pitched my idea. I told her I’d plan everything from A-Z, with her, of course, coming along for the ride. I told her anything she needed help with, you name it, I’d do it. I just wanted her to enjoy her wedding, and relax. To me, what’s most important when I do any event, not just weddings, is that whoever the party is for is just as relaxed as they can be, and whatever stresses they have… hello Regina is here!! Anyways June 16, 2018 came and boom, the wedding turned out great.
Since then, in the last year, I’ve done eight weddings and five other pretty large events. So, it’s been a crazy year along with a full-time job, but a fun year!! I can’t wait to see what the future holds!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My first wedding, when the planning just started, I kind of just had to trust my gut and go with the flow of things. Not to say I didn’t have to be assertive or know what I was doing. But, I was just starting out, and not knowing too much about the wedding industry as a whole. But, each wedding/event teaches me SO much! There are so many different personalities involved, and you have to know how to work with all of these personalities, and getting the job done. Making your client happy is key. That means being on top of everything, being on time, knowing what’s coming next (if possible). No matter what, nothing will ever be perfect. Your job is to fix it to as close to perfect as it can be. There will always be little hiccups, keep going. 🙂
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I do everything weddings and events!! Whether it’s just a day of help you need, or all out planning everything from A-Z! It all makes me happy, and I put my all into it every time.
I ALWAYS tell my client after the first initial meeting, “Whatever stresses you have now, put them on me. I want this to be enjoyable for you. You can always text or call me, and I will always answer, and help you.” This is majorly important, that trust. I look them in the eye and tell them this. I mean it when I say it, and I think the client can always tell if you seem like a dependable, on top of it person. That’s what I aim to be.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I’ve always been super into schedules, which is crazy because the way that I live my life is very… scattered. But, it also is very on schedule! If that makes any kind of sense. There’s a time and a place for everything. I was also usually very in charge, like the line leader in school, or the most talkative one in class. It’s definitely paid off with planning because, in order to do this and deal with all kinds of people and businesses, you have to have that in charge, type-A type of personality.
