Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Crosson.
Britney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I fell in love with social media all the way back in the MySpace days. The connections, the photos, the videos, the exposure and the fun of it all got me so excited. Friends and colleagues began to take notice of my activity on social media and would ask me for help with their own. After helping friends here and there, I began taking on clients. And shortly thereafter, Fun Love Media was officially born. My 30+ years as a performer on both stage and screen have proven to come in quite handy in the online content world. Years ago when I was auditioning for film roles and taking acting classes, I never would have guessed that those skills would one day allow me to help others feel more confident on camera or help me convey brand and product messaging online. I absolutely love helping my clients create great online content and share it with their audiences. And I’m especially excited to be able to help so many more small business owners now with my monthly membership, DIY Content Creation. One of my favorite quotes is “I was created to create.” Knowing that each and every day I’m creating and sharing interesting and fun and entertaining content with the world makes me feel, not only very excited but very thankful.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My plan ever since I was a child was to be in front of big audiences. I always thought that would happen for me as an actor in a traditional sense. Never would I have dreamed that it would actually morph into being in front of online audiences. For years I struggled with the lack of reaching my big acting goals and felt discouraged by it all. Hollywood hadn’t magically scooped me up, and I was 35 years old. And when I finally began to embrace social media and the online content world as a career itself, things started looking up… big time. You just never know what twists and turns life will put you through in order to get you right where you belong.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fun Love Media – what should we know?
Fun Love Media is a social media marketing and content creation agency here in Houston. I specialize in helping clients create and share online content that’s fun and entertaining, and I’m very proud of that. Audiences want to watch, see and read things that are enjoyable. And knowing that my clients accomplish that with their audiences really lights me up inside.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My biggest cheerleader in this entire journey has most certainly been my husband, Ryan. He is always reminding me of my talents and capabilities and lifts me up when I get down. Starting a business from the ground up is not easy. And having someone that really and truly believes in me has been such an incredible help.
And, you know, I must mention my social media friends. I have this really great community of women (maybe a dude or two – but mostly gals) that means A LOT to me. We support each other and each other’s businesses. We cheer each other on. We brainstorm together. We learn from each other. They’re spread all over the country. So while we don’t get to see each other in person, I’m so thankful that technology allows us all to be so connected.
