Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Chang.
Gregory, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey as a fellow raver. I began to go to EDM events and eventually began to see myself falling in love with the idea of becoming a DJ /Producer. It was not so easy in the beginning since I worked two jobs attempting to maintain my finances. To be quite honest, I became addicted to taking party drugs and taking them for the wrong reasons. I fell into a major depression and felt like the world was against me. One day when I felt that I wanted to end it all, I caught myself listening to electronic music for hours and hours.In which I slowly started healing. From that day, I slowly got back on my feet and began to save for all my equipment and software needed to be able to produce and mix. If we fast forward now, I no longer feel like the world is against me, and Im currently in the process of trying to become the best version of myself. Thanks to all my friends,mother, and the people that support me. I’m chasing what I consider my dream now to one day be on a big stage sharing my love and passion for music. Music truly saved me; if it was not for music, I would not be here standing today.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had to work a whole year and half patiently saving and waiting to get the majority of the equipment I have and to set myself up to be in the position I am now. I sacrificed spending time with family, friends, and the people around me.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have had a positive outlook on everything, and actually, attempt to listen to those who only wanted to help me. To have focused more on the more important things.
